Disclaimer: I do not own "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy". Well, I have copies of it and stuff, but I don't own any characters! If I did, then why would I waste my time writing this?
Author's Note: Hello everyone! This is my first fanfic! Please read and review! I love "LotR", obviously, but it's not really gonna be true to the book. Well, actually, none of the fanfics are, unless there just about a certain characters feelings, and well, I'll get to the point! I'm trying not to make this Mary-Sueish, but it might be. Oh, and this is NOT a Legoromance, which I am sure some of you are sick of reading about! I tried to be creative, haha. Oh, and the main character is NOT based on me! With that said, please read and review! Flames unaccepted, creative criticism welcomed! Enjoy!
Chapter 1: An Engaging Conversation
Alassielle leaned out on the railing of her balcony, closing her eyes and letting the mid-morning sun warm her face. A gently breeze blew her long copper hair around her. She normally wore it in a braid, but today there was a diplomat from Rivendell, so she was expected to dress up. She heard a knocking on her door, so she sighed and walked back into her room to answer it. Her adoptive brother Legolas was standing there.
"Good morning, Elle," he greeted her, his normally joyful grin replaced by a tight smile.
"Good morning. How are the negotiations going?" Alassielle asked. Their father, King Thranduil of Mirkwood, had been trying to work out an alliance with Rivendell. He had spent the past week in his study, along with his consultants and various diplomats from Rivendell.
"Not too good. Mirkwood wants to have a treaty, but Rivendell thinks that an arranged marriage would unite the kingdoms better."Legolas replied.
"Ah, I see." Alassielle knew that her brother had no intention of getting married anytime soon. He preferred wandering the forests and going off on adventures.
"Yes. Well, father would like to speak with you. He's in his study. I'm going to have quick breakfast, and then I'll join you all there."
They gave each other a friendly embrace and then headed off in opposite directions.
When Alassielle reached her father's study, she found the door open so she walked in. She saw her father sitting at his desk, with one of the diplomats from Rivendell sitting in a chair across from him. Both of them had large smiles on their faces, so Alassielle assumed that they had finally come to an agreement.
"Ah, daughter!" Thranduil cried joyously, getting up from his seat and embracing his daughter. "We have some wonderful news for you!"
"What is it?" Alassielle asked, puzzled.
"You are going to be married!" the diplomat replied.
A/N: Hope you liked that! More about Alassielle's past in the next chapter! Well, review, or there won't be another one! I'll update VERY soon!
