Bitter Sweet Dreams
Running as fast as her legs could carry her, running as far away from the place she hated and toward the light, toward the place she knew she could be safe, safe for eternity, safe with the man she loved more than life itself.
Through all the battles and the war and the chaos that she and he had caused they had fought through it together and come out stronger on the other side but she had to leave. And she regretted the day so much that she knew, in her heart, that she had to return and she knew she would be welcomed.
Feeling her feet safe on the ground that she greeted with open arms and a smile on her face she knew instantly that something was wrong. She shook her head and felt a single tear in the corner of her eye which she quickly wiped away before it fell down her cheek. She turned around and saw that the city she had lived in for a short space of time was yet again and burning pile of rubble and destruction and yet turning around again she could see tree's and green leaves; nature, undisturbed.
She took a few steps forward, the grass under her bare feet felt as though there was something it wasn't telling her and that if it could it would tell her all the secrets and fill her in all the details about what had happened in her only too long an absence. She took more steps forward and then felt herself stop and shake her head. Someone was calling her. She turned around and saw a familiar face, just a face, calling her name,
"Hitomi, Hitomi wake up, you're crying again." Hitomi, whose eyes already felt open, opened again and she saw the face of Amano. She shivered and then sat up in her bed and felt sorrow overcome her whole body and she started to cry.
"Hitomi you're going to have to stop this, waking up crying, have you thought anymore about counselling?" Hitomi shook her head and threw her bed sheets off her and got up and walked towards the door.
"I don't need counselling."
"Then why won't you let me help you? Why do you never tell me what you dream about?" Amano spoke with desperation in his voice and he took a step forward toward Hitomi but then stopped himself, feeling further away from her than he had felt in a long time,
"Because dreams are personal," Hitomi said and she slid the door open and stepped out of the room, closing the door again. That was the furthest she had got to being with Van in her dreams for a long time. If she wasn't woken up by Amano she may even have managed to see him again, once more.
