Last Light of the Last Evenstar

Arwen doesn't belong to me.

In a hall of marble silently sleeps my love
In a shroud of silk and satin silently sleeps my love
The sky clouds over, the sun goes to bed
My grandfather's light is shone brightly
And silently my love still sleeps

Between my fingers parchment crumbles
And the high towers have all in my sight tumbled
And reduced to but ashes and dust
The sea gulls are calling for me to follow
But their songs in my ears are distant and hollow
And reduced to but ashes and dust

In halls of marble there my little ones grow
Under sable banners streaming there my little ones grow
The sun comes out and the stars fade away
Now the Second Born's time has come
And so ends the light of the last Even-star

I watch my children grow old and die
Under shrouds of silk silently sleep my loves
The fading trees no longer are comfort for me
The stars are distant as the far western shore
And silently I soon shall too sleep.
