An Impossible Improbability

Disclaimer: Sigh Don't own it, I'm sorry to say. Of course, if I did, I'd probably destroy the poor show with my strange ways. Best leave it to the people who know what they're doing!
Just a short little ficlet from Rodney's POV about someone he never expected to be different from everyone else he's ever met.
My first Rodney/Liz fic. Please leave a review or go join our Yahoo! Group if you support the pairing!
It was inconcievable. Completely impossible. This wasn't happening to me. Not to me.
She's just a woman; a good tool for relieving stress but not much more. True, Samantha Carter was different from most women; she was intelligent. I've worked with a lot of women in my time, but very few have had enough intelligence to gain my respect. Colonel Carter was one of those people.
The other was her.
From the moment I met her she seemed different. She held leadership around her like a cloak and seemed to demand you listen to her before being rash. She was truly intelligent.
I began to respect her- silently, of course- and was drawn to her like a mosquito is drawn to one of those bug-zapping lights. I know that I'm just going to get as fried as those pests, but I can't help myself. She's everything I've ever looked for in others; confidence, intelligence, and patience, all rolled into one. She has a smile that brightens a room, but is just as quick to yell as to smile. She knows what this base needs and tries her damndest to make everything run smoothly.
Even when Major Sheppard- who has the tendecy to cause all sorts of problems- messes something else up, she handles it as calmly as she can. I don't think I've really ever seen her loose her temper, despite everything she goes through. I doubt anyone really knows what it's like being in a position of power and having people look up to you. Of course, I know because, being the smartest person on the base, people come to me for answers. Even that Czecheslovakian doctor- dammit, why can't I ever remember his name?- is no match, although he is pretty good. She keeps her cool in dangerous situations that I have to bail us out of continuously, always there as a... a pillar of strength I can hold onto when I feel one of my phobias starting to kick in. I think the only other person who was able to do that was.... Scratch that. No one has ever been able to keep me from panicing like she has.
She's not a traditional beauty, not someone all the men on this base would be panting after like the primatives they are, but she moves with a natural grace I've seen in few other women. In fact, the only other women that comes to mind that was as graceful as her was my mother. Hard to believe, I know. She just seems to balance perfectly with that calm flowing off of her like water, walks with grace and exudes dignity. She can stop a fight at it's start and won't let her authority be usurped. I just know that if it came down to it she would trade her life for any of ours in an instant. Even mine, and Lord knows that no one has ever given a damn about me before, never understood what comes with being a quote unquote genius.
Dr. Elizabeth Weir is unlike anything I've ever encountered before. She's someone I wouldn't mind spending all of my time with, someone I could honestly live with seeing for the rest of my life. And the reason why scares me more than the fact that I would loose everything for her. Because, as much as I want to deny it, the truth is....
I love her.
So? What did you think? Again, leave a review! Lol Notice how I didn't use the "moth to flame" metaphor. Used something totally Rodney. Lol Thanks for reading!
NOTE: All flames will be used to burn the Genii.
