He kisses her forehead in the morning light.

He wishes they were in the still of the night.

He knows that this can never happen again.

He can no longer live with the pain of his sin.

All he wanted was just one kiss.

He never imagined it would end like this.

Her beautiful smile entranced him from day one.

It struck a chord in his heart like nothing else could.

It wasn't supposed to happen this way.

He only intended to look.

He never meant to stray.

Then one night, she looked so lost.

He wanted to comfort her,

no matter the cost.

He did just that,

and by the next day,

He realized that his love for her

was there to stay.

He didn't regret it.

He never could.

How was it wrong

if it felt so good?

He knew how it was wrong,

in the back of his mind.

His wife was at home.

He left her behind.

He made a decision.

He would end the affair.

He could never go back,

No matter how much he cared.

How do I tell her? he thought.

Her world will be shattered,

Her emotions distraught.

He went back to her one last time

and told her it was over.

He could no longer lie.

She said she understood,

but he could see the tears in her eyes.

He stayed the night,

And they said goodbye.

He told her his love for her would never die.

When he got up,

She didn't awake.

He started to leave,

But his legs began to shake.

He looked down at her one last time

And walked out the door

Before he could change his mind.

It was the end,

But not really, though.

The love that they had would always show.

The glances and touches would never stop.

They were an addiction that came out on top.
