Cerulean Steel
by Jess Angel
A glint of light. Reflection. Silver lightening—striking.
Her steel winks at me.
Cold fire, ice fire. Flickering. Fierce flames—flaring.
Her metal burns me.
Azure calm. Rivers run—flowing.
I am cooling
deep inside her, inside her eyes
Powerless. Without them. Powerless without her.
Endlessly needing… her ocean's blue.
It's hard to believe you're in arms, that you're beside me. That you're here at all.
The walls I put up, the fighting. Excuses. Shutting you out with every word… I'm not proud of how I acted, Rain. Know that; I don't deny any of it. I admit, I was a jerk. A damn jerk. But despite the rough, the jagged, the cold attitude, your resolve never softened. No matter how hard I shook, you were unshakable.
The truth is I was never really the strong one.
You were. All along. …I admit that, too.
And don't mind—one bit.
