Of course, seeing as I support the Harry/Ginny cycle and also the Ron/Hermione cycle, I had to write them up as fanfic. I have already written my H/G cycle, so here goes my R/Hrm one.

"Ron, is that you?" Hermione set the book she was reading down on one of the tables in the library and peered through the gap at the top of the bookshelf to see who was staring at her. A long nose came into view, with a few freckles dusting the top, and next a cheeky smile and some laughing eyes.

"Might be..." came the reply, and next minute, the tall, lanky form of Ronald Weasley had appeared next to Hermione. "Gave you a bit of a scare, didn't I?"

Hermione frowned at him. "What're you doing here then, apart from spying on me? Homework? A bit of light reading?"

Ron blushed. "I don't really know, I s'pose I just...wanted to read. Yeah, that's it!"

Hermione's lips twitched into a small smile. "What about?"

"Er-dragons," came the reply. "Yes, dragons. Or-or Quidditch," Ron added, seeing the disbelieving look on Hermione's face.

"Or perhaps 'Hogwarts; A History'?" Hermione asked, "Or 'A guide to Numerology?'"

"Maybe," Ron replied uncomfortably. "Anyway, what're you doing?"

"Reading," replied Hermione promptly. "About Potions."

"Right..." Ron flushed again, not really sure why he was there. "Er-I'll be off then."

Hermione's eyes twinkled. "I'll come with you. Just let me check this out."

She took a huge old book over to the librarian to get it stamped. Ron followed awkwardly, knocking over piles of neatly stacked books with his large feet.

Soon afterwards, Ron and Hermione were walking towards the common room in an amiable sort of silence. Neither of them had much to say, and the tips of Ron's ears were pink, but Hermione didn't seem to mind.

Suddenly, she grabbed Ron's arm and pulled him sideways into a small broom cupboard.

"What?" asked Ron, rather loudly.

"Shhh! Malfoy!" Hermione explained, sighing just as loudly. They could hear Malfoy bragging about something just outside, and Crabbe and Goyle laughing falsely.

"Oh, Draco, darling, you are funny!" came from Pansy, who was standing just outside the door of the cupboard, blocking the light with her huge bulk, and Hermione snorted angrily.

"Jealous?" asked Ron, laughing, and then stopped abruptly as he felt something brush against his lips.

The two friends savoured the kiss for a moment longer, before Hermione pulled away. "Never," she said softly.

Ron was flaming red by now, brighter than his own hair, but he was grinning uncontrollably.

The voices outside had stopped by now, and Hermione pushed the door open a crack. "Noone there," she informed Ron, and made to leave.

Suddenly, Ron reached out and pulled Hermione back.

"What in the name of Merlin-"she started, but this time it was her turn to be surprised.

"Ron!" she exclaimed at the end of the kiss, but she did not sound cross.

Ron laughed and put his hand on the door of the cupboard.

"After you," he said, and opened the door.
