I Care

Rating: G
Pairing: KaiRei

Rei sat and watched as Max, Tyson, and Kenny threw water balloons at the already soaked Hilary, laughing their faces off at the annoyed girl. Kai stood a few feet away, leaning against one of the forest's many trees, his arms crossed and his eyes closed.
"Hey, heads up Rei!" SPLASH! It was too late, a water balloon his Rei square in the face which resulted in his hair and clothes getting drenched. His raven hair stuck to his face and he had to move it from his eyes to see.
"Who did that?" Rei asked, looking around wildly, not being able to see the four frolickers.
"They ran off," Kai answered as he finally moved from the tree.
"Oh," Rei said sheepishly, his face glowing slightly.
"You better change, its getting chilly out and you'll catch cold," Kai said as he began walking back toward the apartment.
"Yeah, good idea," Rei said, following behind Kai with his face glowing a small shade of red.
Kai turned to face the neko-jin and was slightly confused as to why the boy's face was red so he stopped and walked toward Rei, then placed his hand on the boy's forehead.
Rei couldn't help as his face lite up like a tomato as he felt Kai's hand on his forehead, "what are you-"
"I think you may be coming down with a fever," Kai said as he removed his hand.
"No, I am feeling perfectly fine," Rei said as he tried to get his blush to go down, it worked until Kai picked him up bridal style and began carrying him.
"You could be getting sick, Rei. I can't afford my team mates getting sick," Kai said, failing to notice the look Rei sent him or how the boy was blushing like a tomato again.
"I'm fine, Kai. I'm positive," Rei tried to assure the older boy.
"Then why is your face red?" he asked with his eye brown raised, he was surprised when the boy suddenly froze up, going as stiff as a board.
"Err-uhh....you see...I uh...," Rei didn't know what to say, he was caught like a cornered cat, with no way out.
"Well, what is your reason?" Kai asked, watching the boy with interest as he squirmed to get his words out.
"I..can't tell you, you'd hate me," Rei sighed, hiding his face from the older boy in his chest.
"I'd never hate you, Rei. Tell me what is wrong," Kai said softly, placing the boy back on his feet and using hind hand to gently tip the neko-jin's chin up to see the boy's face.
Kai was shocked at the response, the neko-jin was kissing him, shaking with fear. It took him a few seconds to realize what was happening before he wrapped his arms around the boy and kissed him back.
Rei stopped shaking as he felt Kai kiss back, he couldn't feel happier right now.
