Notes: Decided to try a slightly different writing style with this fic. It'll be a more personalized perspective in that the style will reflect the character's feelings, in that, as seen in the beginning, everything will appear chaotic and confusing, as that's exactly what Robin's going through.

Make-Believe
Prologue

This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening. They were… losing? That was impossible. They were the good guys. They didn't lose.

But they were. Robin could tell by the looks of desperation lining his teammates' faces. By the way the flames reflected in Starfire's eyes as they reduced Titan Tower to nothing but ashes. By the way their powers had been drained and their weapons were destroyed. They were losing. They had already lost.

And Terra was laughing. Her eyes were golden as she let out that terrible cackling sound. Robin never wanted so much to have his hands around someone's neck.

She was saying something to him. He couldn't hear through the sharp aching in his head.

And suddenly a large boulder was being raised up into the air, hanging precariously above him.

And then he was running.

Or was it falling?

Maybe it was both.

And then he was against the ground. He was shivering, but couldn't feel even the slightest chill. His head throbbed and he couldn't think. Couldn't breathe.

There were footsteps beside him.

And then he couldn't see.

:o:o:o:o:o:o:

The first thought that went through his head was that it hurt too much to even have a first thought. The second was that, wherever he was, it was quite comfortable and he was content to stay there for as long as possible. The third was that maybe he should have been worried about the fact that he had absolutely no idea what was going on.

The fourth thought that came to mind was that he was. Worried, that is. So why did he feel so apathetic about it?

"Robin." Robin? That name. It sounded so familiar, yet… so very strange. Was it his own name? No.. it couldn't be… could it? What was his name?

He couldn't remember.

Something told him that he should be more concerned by this fact than he really was. But there was a small voice inside that was telling him that everything was fine. At least for the moment.

And then his eyelids were closing again.

All he needed was a little more sleep.
