AN: Alright I hope this makes sense, I'm not going to say what band I'm from, or anything like that, if you figure it out then yay. This is just a short story about a young freshmen in the percussion section.

Jessie walked into the band room and tossed her book bag onto the floor, and walked to the instrument room to get ready for concert band. She grabbed her bass drum, sticks, and her harness for when marching band started. She took her drum and went back to the end of the section that she sat at. Grabbing her music Jessie set it on a stand and pulled it up to her eye height. She sat down and waited for Cutting to start class. After about 10 minuets of trying getting the band to shut up, Cutting finally had them quiet and started warm-ups. The percussion section just sat back and talked since they don't warm up. Nass, Gary, Adam, and Greg started to talk about how knows what, probably something dumb, when Gary got up and moved to the seat next Jessie, who being the only girl, was sitting by herself and not talking to anyone.

"I'm going to sit by my best friend" he announced to the others. "Hi," he said waving slightly to Jessie, "Do I scare you?"

"No, not really."

"Ok good. You're my best friend."

"Alrighty."

"PERCUSSION, get in your right seats please it's time to start." Cutting yelled at the group.

Gary got up and went back to his spot as the snare drummer and Jessie got herself ready to read the music.

Jessie's POV

'Alright, did that just happen? Gary, one of the hottest guys in the school, just came over to me and said that he was my best friend. Some one pinch me.'

The next night on the band festival bus trip

Jessie got on the low brass/percussion bus and found a seat halfway back and sat down. Only a few minuets latter Gary got on the bus and sat across from her. "Hello I'm going to sit by you."

"'K I'm just going to sit here." Jessie told him as she looked over at him, Gary a Sophomore, his light brown hair was spiked up as usual, and his eyed a light chocolate brown, as he was dressed in his marching uniform ready for the show. Jessie then thought of herself, her short chin length hair was a mess and dyed into a really face looking orange and had about three inches of roots growing in, and her hazel eyes hidden behind her glasses.

After a few minuets when everyone was on the bus Gary got up and moved to the front, "Come on best friend, let's sit in the front."

Jessie just stayed where she was, she was going to talk to Andrew and didn't want to leave him by himself.

25 minuets later Jessie's POV

'Gee what a fun trip that was. I didn't go sit with Gary because I didn't want Andy to have to sit by himself, and Andy didn't talk to me the whole trip, I should have gone to the front of the bus. I'm going to sit there on the way home.'

Normal POV

Jessie walked to the truck and got her drum out, and got in her spot next to Olivia and behind Gary. Dan turned and told the drumline, "Regular going in."

And with those three words the drumline knew exactly what they needed to do. The band got into parade rest and waited.

"BAND TEN HUT" Cutting yelled.

"N.R"

"MARK TIME MARK"

"UP"

Tap! Tap! Tap! Dan hit his drum giving the band the left hit. "FORWARD MARCH" Cutting pointed at Dan and Dan started the cadence, regular with tonal bass drum, and the rest of the drumline joined him as the band marched to the end of the long line of other bands.

After the band got to their spot Dan held up his stick and the drumline finished the cadence. "BAND PARADE REST" the band snapped back down into parade rest and waited again, this time for their turn at showing the other bands who the best band was.
