Wow, I haven't been able to continue on this in a while... ( That's
depressing. Well, here's chapter three and I add more confusion to my plot
before you all even can start to fathom what is going on in the little hell
hole...
Kerei Kitsune: Your wish is granted! TADA!
zelda-lover : I like Zelda- but Malinks rock this world! Yeah!
Rainer Aquarias: Personally, for the longest time I was convinced Yugioh made NO sense at all whatsoever, so it's okay. If you wish, I'll put an outline at the beginning of my next chapter. It really doesn't make any sense unless you know about what happened, what? Five millennia ago?
Kathryn: Kat, I LOVE YOU! I hope you decide to read this again!
Sheik: She doesn't own Zelda, or Nintendo or anything else for that matter. She even has to share a room with two siblings. Depressing ain't it?
You know I have made so many attempts to write this chapter. The above is from ages passed. Well, here we go.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
On the Far Western border of Hyrule, a series of fortresses stood tall and foreboding before the desert. Manned by Hyrule's race of Amazons and heavily armed with magic, weaponry and supplies, no army had ever completed an attempt to breach the mile-high walls. Not before they cooked in the golden desert sand.
This is why Sheik walked freely through the many torch lit corridors of one of the fortresses. No one stopped his passing and those that saw him made no impression that they had. Most of the time all gerudo guards noticed was a shadow in the dark. Sheik turned a corner and came to a hallway with a dead end. Walking with calm purpose he proceeded to the door. It was unguarded. Odd, he thought, I could have sworn I stationed sentries here. Frowning he opened the door and nearly had a heart attack.
The room was completely void of life except for a figure standing in front of a mirror. Princess Zelda had just finished putting a set of stained red glass into her eyes and was checking them to be sure that they covered her irises. She reached for a long piece of white wrapping when a loud 'erhm' made her whirl around to face the intruder.
"Your majesty, may I inquire about your activity at this moment?" Zelda flushed. Sheik's naturally crimson eyes bore down into her own and left her with a feeling of guilt. This didn't seem quite right, she was the princess after all and he only a bodyguard. Well, that wasn't quite right either.
"Your majesty?"
"Hmm?"
"Forgive my intrusion, but for what purpose are you dressed like that?"
"I have to go out."
"I thought we already decided I would be the one spiriting all across creation and you the one to remain under heavy security. That is, unless of course, a dire emergency occurred."
"I consider this a dire emergency."
"I do not." Zelda inhaled and turned back to the mirror where she began to wrap the strip of cloth around her hair. In a moment it was done. A quick look in the pool of glass confirmed that there were two Sheiks in the room and Princess Zelda was nowhere to be found.
"I'm sorry Sheik, but I have to do this. I can't just sit here knowing my letter has been intercepted. Link is running straight into a trap. I hope you understand." Sheik was walking up behind her, and judging by the scowl in his eyes, which he now made no attempt to hide, he didn't understand. Or perhaps he did, he just would rather she stay within the protection of the fortress and leave the 'spiriting all across creation' to him. They both knew it was dangerous, but she had seen that if she went this time, somehow she would remain safe, although, danger lurked in waiting at her destination.
Normally, Sheik would never have spoken to her like that. He kept to himself, a shadow standing in hers, a place he would never be seen. If he wished, he could make himself invisible, even to her and yet be only inches in front of her face. The prospect was a scary one, but it was a necessary course of action, despite the treachery of his ancestors. Even more importantly, she foresaw that she could trust Sheik with her life and only a very select few had she bestowed that trust.
He was right behind her now; she could see him in the looking glass. Turning, the princess of the elves looked up into his eyes and drew his attention to herself. Trust or not, this was something that she had to do.
Sheik looked deep into the now blood-red eyes and found he couldn't look away. Her eyes were captivating and quite frankly he would rather drown in their depths than be in the twisted reality that he often found himself. The princess could foresee actions, and even read minds but could not see into the hidden depths of the abyss that was trained into the mind of every Sheikah. No one could. Yet, trained as he was, he still found something interesting in the eyes of the young princess. If only he could reach out and touch it. It was right within his grasp, yet not. How interesting... Wait a minute-
Suddenly, he stepped back, realizing the distraction. He was a moment too late. The next thing he knew, something broke over the back of his head and the darkness that was his abode claimed him.
It took everything she had to stop herself from rushing forward to catch the figure as he fell to a crumpled heap on the floor. Pieces of clay lay shattered to his either side like chunks of hail. Behind him a gerudo grinned triumphantly, the base of a vase in her hand, the rest on the floor.
"You ready to go, your majesty?" The thief wanted to know. Zelda smiled wryly from beneath the wrappings. The gerudo handed her a small black knapsack and a promise that her now no longer conscience bodyguard would be well taken care of.
"Thank you Darya."
"No prob!" Her grin broadened. Without a sound, the imposter vanished out the only window and into the gloom. Darya followed to the window and saluted. There goes the princess of the elves, off on another adventure. Will she be successful in her attempt to stop the Hero of Time before fate claims his soul or will she to be a victim of fate?
The gerudo crossed her arms and thought. This would make an excellent chapter in the story. It added a beautiful plot twist, something the young thief honored if it could be brought about in just the right fashion. The reader had to be given a sense of wonder and suspense and feel the angst with a passion. This part played in beautifully.
The more she thought about it, the more she liked it. The Princess of the Elves, a slave of fate and her own lot forced to watch her love crumple to the ground at her feet. Darya grinned. This was beautiful. Speaking of lovers...
The gerudo turned and looked amused upon the body of the sheikah. Behold, the leading male character in her tale of adventure and romance, the love struck bodyguard who would do anything for his princess (emphasis on the "his"). The only problem was, he wasn't there.
Frowning, Darya kicked at the floor to be certain she wasn't hallucinating. Yup, he too had evaporated into the night. Oh, the suspense! Would he go and confront his true love directly or would he find some other means to stop her from the impending doom that now threatened to throw its deadly shadow over them both? The thrill, the pain... hmm, Zelda wasn't gonna be happy when she found the gerudos hadn't been successful in restraining her guard. Oh well. Darya went and sank gently onto the bed, her mind absorbed in her tragic romance that was unfolding before her very eyes. She couldn't wait until she got to the part when her heroine melted into her lover's arms.
Darya could not have been closer to the truth if she had been a Seer. Princess and Guardian raced over the rugged landscape to the scene of the crime in a wild game of hide-and-go-seek. The Sheikah would have been cursing very colorfully in multiple languages had his training permitted him. But no, instead, he raced on into the night moving with an ease that made demons shudder. Indeed, there was a demon on the loose.
He made it to the bridge before she did, but his time would come quickly. Still a shadow, Sheik made himself comfortable in a narrow crevice in the face of the cliff where nothing could pass him unnoticed. Then he waited. A sixth sense spread out and touched the surrounding area for miles on end. He continued to wait patiently. Zelda entered into his circle of thought and he readied himself. She didn't slow down. He got into a crouch. Her speed was amazing, but it wouldn't do her any good; his was better still. She was just on the other side of the fortress. She made it up and over the gate like a squirrel. Sheik smiled as he traced her movements with his mind. She had indeed gotten good.
Down the main road.
He closed his eyes.
Around the corner.
Deep breath.
Across the expanse of rock to the cliff.
Inhale.
Right before the target.
Sheik sprang from his hiding place faster than lightning and caught her in midair. Together, they went crashing to the ground and rolled across the sandy red stone, but not a moment to soon. Fire engulfed the place Zelda would have been a millisecond later had Sheik missed his mark. Smoke, ash and debris flew in all directions and heat emanated from the burnt crater by the side of the canyon just before the bridge.
The sheikah rose carefully to his feet and stood between the princess and their attacker. A deadly sense of calm floated over him like an invisible cloak. His eyes turned to molten blood as he said in on of his deadliest whispers, "Who goes there?"
There was no reply, only the drifting ash, the debris and the indefinite silence gave any hint that they were not alone. Then without warning, another ball of black flame sprang from the shadows. Sheik had expected as much. What he hadn't intended on was the inky black pool of... something that slipped out of the gloom and glided under Sheiks feet. He didn't notice until he was knee deep in it. An odd feeling of detachment came over him and he could feel himself sinking.
"Sheik!" He stared past the smoke glaring; twin points of fire snarled right back. Then, without a word, he turned and threw his own magic at the princess. Zelda gasped in surprise before she turned into a ball of light and was sent flying back to the gerudos fortress. Sheik had no time to do anything else; it was dark before he could even draw back his hand.

"Bakura, please explain how you solved problem 35. Bakura? Bakura?" The geometry teacher frowned and leaned over her desk. Ryou was glaring at the back of the shirt of the person sitting in front of him.
"Bakura, are you paying attention?"
"No ma'am." One of Ryou's fellow classmates offered. "He appears to be trying to burn a hole into Shigeki-kun's back." The class roared. It was this that brought the albino out of his trance and made him look around a little embarrassed.
"Bakura, would you please-" Whatever it was that she wanted him to do, Ryou never found out; he was saved by the bell. As he packed his things, Yugi came up behind him and tapped his shoulder.
"Hey, Bakura."
"Hmm?"
"Wanna walk home together?" The boy frowned. He had really wanted to spend the afternoon reading but...
"Sure."
"Okay! Meet you at the entrance in say, ten minutes?"
"That's fine." Yugi grinned and sprinted for the door. As soon as he was outside a pile of confetti came snowing down from somewhere above.
"Ugh! Malik!" Malik was nearly on the floor laughing, but he managed to grab Yugi and run off down the hallway before they could get caught. Ryou sighed and moseyed his way to his locker.
"Hmm..." Chemistry? Check. Geometry? Check. Literature? Check. He slammed the stainless steel door closed with a satisfying bang. It was Saturday, that was always a good thing. You could never have too many days off from school. Now, what to do with tomorrow? Sleep in for a change? Most likely a certain irritating so-and-so would wake him up at the crack of dawn to brag about his latest catch. Couldn't he bother Yami no Malik about that? They went thieving all the time. Stupid irritating-
"Bakura!"
"AHH!" He jumped about three feet in the air and dropped a particularly heavy book on Malik's foot. Now it was Yugi who nearly fell over laughing. Everyone else just stared.

Hmm, now that came out a little interesting. Maybe I should cut the Yugioh out altogether and make it an entirely different fic. Oh well! I promise, you'll understand where I'm going with this eventually! Now be good reviewers and REVIEW!^_^
