WOW! Long time no update… so here's chapter… whatever chapter it is.
Kerei Kitsune: I normally just give it a rest for a while and work on something else. Or expand on some little detail that you can add to make it more important/interesting. OR post something really crapy and revise then repost. Or invent a plot twist. Those are always fun. Turn a really anxty scene into a funny one in your head. Work on scenarios. Draw a picture of your favorite character trapped inside a vending machine. Ah, the possibilities!
It was to harsh voices, angry shouts and bright fluorescent lights that welcomed Link in his waking moments. He could see the light through his eyelids and could hear people rushing around him, stumbling over one another in their seeming madness. He contented himself with that.
Irritating humans…! The voice in his head uttered a long tangent of curses in it's own dark language. Link decided not to ask for the definitions, but rather mentally rebuked the voice for breaking his concentration. On the other hand, he couldn't help but agree; the ruckus was adding a good deal of stress to his already throbbing headache. It was no secret-he had been heavily drugged.
"Why isn't it working?"
"I'm getting a different signal!"
"What the heck is going on?" The noise died down slightly and to Link it seemed that most of everyone's attention was focused on a specific point across the room.
"Sir, the experiment isn't working properly. We're getting completely different results than from the last test."
"Oh, and why do you think that is?"
"We don't know sir."
"Well you had better know soon! Go and fix your mistakes- I know your making some. Hurry it up! Reports are due first thing tomorrow morning." There was a loud slam and an exasperated exhale could be heard about the room."
"Forget it guys, lets go home- he's not going anywhere." You wanna bet? Link thought rashly, suddenly willing to go and do something absolutely ridiculous just to prove them wrong.
Idiot! This isn't the Gerudos Fortress! Don't go getting us killed!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're not gonna die. There was a swish of cloth, the sound of a closing door and many sets of feet made their way down the corridor. Link slowly twitched his ears just to make certain, and then carefully opened his eyes. We just might get beaten up a little bit, he added as a second thought. A wicked snicker echoed hollowly through his mind.
Just a little? Link frowned.
Just what are you worried about? It shouldn't bother you! The snicker continued.
Hehe…My princess-loving shadow is coming even as we speak. The voice quieted down and the elf glanced around the room. He was lying on a bed covered over in a white sheet situated in a small white room with a single glass window that went almost from the floor to the ceiling. Outside the window several rows of devices that Link had never seen the likes of before sat on long tables. Various contraptions were strewn about this 'outer' room, which was white as well. It seemed to Link that many long cords of string connected the box-like contraptions to the contraptions that lined the walls and even things on the ceiling. This place didn't make any sense and the mocking voice between his ears wasn't helping. Knowing that Sheik was on his way was a comforting thought, even if the information had been completely off the current topic of discussion.
Okay Dane, you want something to joke about? Tell me how to get out of here and maybe I'll set you on some of those idiots that dragged us into this circus. The voice paused for a moment, obviously liking the idea of causing havoc. Well? We don't have forever! This time the sun-topped elf let the scowl surface to his physical features and mentally he kicked at the voice. Dane! The voice snickered again.
Let me meet the shared souls and I'll let you out. Okay… what in everything holy did that mean?
Deal.
Good. I'll turn off the lights. Link only had to wait a moment for the room to go from white to black and when it had happened he was left trying to blink the spots out of his eyes. Then he stood from the bed and following Dane's directions, made his way to the door. Drat, he thought as he tried to stretch out the rest of his groaning body. I've slept on rocks that were more comfortable!
As Link tried to gain his bearings in alien surroundings, Sheik was trying to relocate him and as he did so, he muttered curses that went somewhere along the same lines as Dane's.
Where IS that blasted building?! He sprang from shadow to shadow, eyes always searching, ears picking up the pointless idle banter of Domino's residents. He had kept undercover until nightfall, meditating in the branches of a particularly tall tree in the middle of a park. When shadow had fallen, he had crept out and since had been searching ceaselessly for the place Link had been taken captive. The problem was, despite the fact the fact that he knew what the name of the place was he couldn't read the street signs…
It was nearly ten when the goddesses finally decided to pity him. That, or maybe they just thought he was convenient, not only to help rescue their warrior, but to torment as well. Sheik scowled beneath his wrappings. Fate was cruel- how he wanted to wring her neck. Well, he thought as he looked down a particularly dark street. I can't strangle fate, but I can scare some of these mortals half to death. Maybe my suffering in that direction will lesson to some extent…
Walking quietly down the street was a figure wearing baggy clothes and silver white hair.
"Geeze" Ryou muttered, "I just had to wander to the other side of town at ten thirty at night." The teen shivered and slunk a little farther back into his jacket before continuing on his way. The street had no light at all except for the street lamps that stood on either corner. In between the two, it was as dark as pitch- and that's exactly how Sheik liked it. Ryou took another couple steps before a figure stepped out of the shadows- about a foot right in front of him. The boy nearly jumped out of his skin and Sheik was tempted to fall over laughing. The look on that human's face was worth a fortune and a half.
"Where is the laboratory?" It took Ryou a while to speak and when he was able to do so, it came out in a terrified squeak. The assassin rose an eyebrow in mock confusion, smirking to himself. He didn't have time for games. "I'm sorry I can't understand you- looks like you'll have to show me." Cool as cream, he snatched Ryou by the back of the collar and sprinted to the roof of a near by building. Aww man… how did I get myself into this? Ryou scolded himself before swearing that he wouldn't wail for his yami- at least not yet. Wait a minute! I'm being abducted! Oh well… there's a first time for everything.
Yeah, um… right… So…--;;;
I know it's going kinda slow- again. And short. But, hey, at least I updated! I'll probably have to go back and edit things, but that's how life goes. I thought it came out decently enough though. Again, any suggestions on how I could make this more interesting are welcome. So- until the next chap!
