Running thru the halls of Hogwarts as fast as its legs would carry it the ginger colored cat ran as if the very devil was reaching for it. Coming to a stop at the doorway to the common room of, the gryffindor tower it "meowed" to get the fat lady's attention.

Looking at the cat strangely the fat lady replied, "Who are you?" Looking up at the portrait the cat flexed its claws and growled. Staring in shock the fat lady refused to open.

Watching the exchange Albus Dumbledore sighed and walked out of the shadows. Coming up behind the cat, Albus said, "Please let it pass".

Looking at the headmaster in shock the portrait swung open to allow the cat to pass.

Before walking away the headmaster called "please inform all of the portraits that this cat has full rain over the school, as if it was a prefect or head student. I'm afraid that we lost our head girl tonight and her familiar is a bit changed due to the loss."

The headmaster and the portrait were the farthest thing from the ginger cats mind as it ran thru the common room and up the stairs to the girl's dormitory. Reaching the room it came to a stop seeing the young man lying on its bed sobbing and shaking from the intense pain of losing a best friend and more. Moving slowly the cat jumped on the bed and walked up next to Harry and licked a tear off his cheek.

Opening his eyes Harry could see the ginger cat looking at him with such an intense sad glaze. Moving slightly Harry choked out a "Crookshanks" and pulled the cat in his arms and continued to sob himself to sleep.

Several hours later Minerva McGonagall entered the girl's dormitory in search of Harry

Finding him asleep on Hermione's bed with her familiar. Moving to stand beside the bed

Minerva had to wipe away the stray tear that slid down her face. Reaching out she gently

shook Harry awake.

Opening his eyes slowly Harry looked up to see his professor staring down at him.

Moving to sit up Harry slid his legs over the side of the bed. Seeing Harry moving to get

off the bed Minerva said "your fine Mr. Potter I just wanted to give you this."

Looking at the parcel in her hands Harry could see it had his name on the front of it.

Seeing the look of bewilderment on his face Minerva replied, "It was among Her...Miss

Granger's things, we thought you would like to have it."

Unable to speak as he took the parcel from her hands Harry nodded his head. Glancing

sadly down at the young man's head Minerva said, "the Weasley's will be here soon."

Never raising his glaze from the parcel in his hands Harry nodded mutely at his professor.

Turning she left the young man to his own grief, trying desperately not to drowned in her

own.
