Running his fingers across her handwriting Harry was hesitant to open it and rip the

wrapping. Sighing he slowly turned it over and gently pulled the tape off the back trying

not to ripe any of Hermione's writing, it would be the last thing he would ever receive

from her and he wanted to be able to keep it. Sitting the paper wrapping on the bed next

to him her ran his hand over a sleek leather bound book. In the right hand corner were

the initials HG. It took Harry only a few seconds to realize he held Hermione's diary in

his hands. Gently opening the cover his hands trembling a letter slid out into his lap.

Sitting the diary down on top of the wrapping he open the letter and began to read.

Dear Harry,

Happy Birthday Harry, I hope you've been able to do your homework. Summer

has been going by so fast, 7th year will be starting soon. How have they been treating

you? Hang in there Harry will all be together soon at Grimmauld Place. I know that your

birthday gift is a little strange but I wanted you to have it. Harry there are so many things

going to happen this year, not all of them happy. Things that I can't tell you, things that

I've been afraid to tell you. I wanted you to have this so you will never forget that you are

loved. Well on happier notes I've been made head girl, wonder who will be head boy? I

hope it's you or Ron.

Always Hermione

Tears had again begun to flow falling and hitting the parchment in his hands. Reaching

for the diary, Harry head jerked up at the sound of some calling his name. Standing up

Harry slid the letter in the cover of the diary and walk towards the stairs leading to the

common room. Seeing Harry leaving Crookshanks got up and quietly followed him down

stairs.

Moving off the landing into the stairs and into the common room Harry came to a stop

seeing his other best friend Ron Weasley, closely followed by his sister Ginny. Standing

there tears on both of their cheeks, both boys after a moment of tense quiet pass reached

for the other and allowed the pain of her death erupt thru them soon the boys pulled the

sobbing girl into there circle and the three stood there in mutual grief for a dear loved

one, a best friend that all three would be lost with out.

After fifteen minutes of crying the three decided to go down to the hospital wing too say their goodbyes to their friend.

The three young friends walked thru the halls of Hogwarts unaware of the lies, betrayal

and secrets that were going to unravel in their lives over the next few weeks.
