Angel Wings

'I don't have angel wings, Remus...' Laini said her eyes concentrating on the snow below her feet. 'Laini... you don't need wings to be an angel.'

Laini's dark dusty brown hair floated lazily around her rosy cheeks as she laughed at Remus' futile attempts to shake the snow from the inside of his jacket.

"Laini Black, I must admit, that was rather ingenious of you." Remus smiled at her as snowflakes drifted softly from under his blue turtle-neck sweater.

"Of course it was, I am, after all, the perfect Ravenclaw." Laini smiled snobbishly.

"And what am I?"

"The most adorible Ravenclaw." Laini blushed, tossing her arms around Remus' neck and staring into his eyes. Remus stared back down at her, a small smile creeping upon his lips. His face slowly leaned down towards her but he stopped suddenly, his grin intensifying.

"Remus... wha-AHHH!!!" Laini screamed as a cold chill seered up her spinal cord. Shaking slightly, she allowed the snow to fall from her robes. "That wasn't cool, Remus, you suck!"

All Remus could do was smile. His amber mist eyes lit up brightly as he watched Laini shiver again from the sudden cold. "You're so cute when you do that."

"Do what?"

"Shiver..." Remus smiled and stepped towards her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Now in the middle of there 7th year, Remus was feeling more compasinate towards what he had and less worried about what he didn't. And he knew for sure that he'd always had Laini, but never exactly noticed.

"Oh..." Laini's pale cheeks turned a darker red and she lowered her eyes, her teeth now biting on her lower lip. Remus gave her a warm smile that she didn't see and kissed her forehead.

"You are such an angel." He whispered, his lips still resting lightly against her forehead.

"I don't have angel wings, Remus." Laini said her eyes concentrating on the snow below her feet,

"You don't need wings to be an angel," Remus replied. Laini lowered her head further, leaning forward and resting her head on his chest. Remus pressed his lips against her soft hair and kissed her again, softer this time.

"Remus..." Laini whispered, her voice muffled by his scarf.

"Yes, Laini." Remus replied, eyes staring over her head,

"I love you." It was then that Remus felt the warm tears hitting his arms. He tightened his grip on her waist and pulled her closer, keeping her warm.

"I love you too..." Never did he expect those words to echo from his mouth, never did expect to say them to Laini, although in his heart he knew he loved her. Laini's warm tears continued to dance in her eyes, fall and trickle onto his arms.

"I love you too..." Laini mouthed the words Remus just spoke, as if in shock he'd replied to her sudden affection, she never believed she be able to tell him. Now sitting in his arms, face buried against his warm scarf, her heartwarmed tears falling from her eyes. She didn't know why this emotion made her cry... never had anything made her cry... not like this.
