Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, if I did, the Sound genins wouldn't have died.

Just thought I'd write a little random something about Dosu and crew. Enjoy!

Seven-year-old Kin's eyes watered up alarmingly fast after she realized that she could not climb up to the tree branch where Dosu and Zaku sat teasing her.

"What is it, Tsuchi-san? Too short to reach?" taunted Dosu.

"Haha, stupid girl, I knew she couldn't follow us up here!" chuckled Zaku. "And she's even starting to cry!"

Wiping her eyes with the back of her palm quickly, she retorted in her high pitched little voice, "No I'm not! And you too are going to be in big trouble when I get up there! You just wait, stupid Zaku and Dosu! You'll be sorry then!"

"As if! You're just a stupid girl!" came Zaku's reply.

With an angry war cry, Kin jumped and held onto his foot, dragging him back down to Earth. The grass muffled Zaku's angry curses as she sat on his back, pushing his face downwards.

"Zaku-kun, you are only a stupid boy. A stupid brainless boy." She emphasized on the "brainless" bit.

Dosu laughed while jumping down from the branch. "She got you there, Zaku."

Seven years later, fourteen year-old Kin's eyes filled up with tears again. A heavily bleeding Zaku was by her feet, Dosu nowhere to be seen.

"Orochimaru! What did you do to him? What did you do to Za-Za..." her voice broke off into sobs. Kin's legs gave way and she kneeled by her old friend. "Zaku..." she whispered, tears pouring down her face. She never was an emotional person; you needed to have nerves of steel to work for Orochimaru. But seeing the loud boy who had teased her for so many years in a state like this triggered feelings she had pushed deep inside her for years. She had never told Zaku how much she appreciated his help... nor had she told Dosu. Dosu... what chances did she have of seeing him again? Losing the match meant death, the same death that Zaku will meet.

Orochimaru smirked and replied, "You both lost." He pulled out a kunai and threw it at the boy. "This time it will be fatal."

Kin gasped as she realized what he was doing, and without pausing to think, placed herself between the kunai and Zaku. It hit her squarely on the back. Two more came to join the first. She bit her lip to stop herself from screaming. Catching her friend's eye, she managed to smile.

"Why do you look so surprised, Zaku-kun? Stupid brainless boy..."

"K-Kin... Kin!"

Zaku's eyes widened as he saw his teammate fall onto the floor next to him unconscious. 'She could have saved herself... why did she block that for me?'

"You'll be joining her now."

The kunais came once more, but this time they were welcomed.

'I'll have to remember to ask Kin when I see her,' was Zaku's last thought.
