"Just what exactly do you think you're doing?"

"Gah!" Greg nearly dropped the tray of test tubes balanced precariously on a box of Krispy Kremes which rested on top of five file folders and a three ring binder. He had been trying to multitask and take the samples to the back up DNA machine, drop off the treats in the break room, grab a cup of coffee, deliver the test results to Nick, and possibly catch a quick breath of fresh air while reviewing a collection of blood spatter analysis photos Catherine compiled for his CSI training. It made sense to his sleep-deprived mind to do it all at once rather than make a few separate trips. The scowling face of his supervisor hit him with a sudden moment of moment clarity. It was clear that he was in for a huge lecture.

"Greg, I realize that you've been extremely busy doing field work and training the new lab tech, but that is not an excuse to start mishandling evidence. It is imperative that you understand there are no shortcuts in a CSI's line of work. I don't think I need to remind you that what you are holding there could possibly mean the difference between a murderer being sent to jail or an innocent man serving a life sentence."

Greg wasn't sure if the sound of Nick and Sara approaching was a good thing. When Nick shouted a greeting, stopping Grissom mid sermon, he decided it was.

"Please tell me you have my DNA results somewhere in that stack!" Nick did not let him answer as he pulled off the test tubes and handed the box of doughnuts to Sara in order to grab the files.

"Oh! They're still warm!" Sara cooed as she opened the box of treats.

Grissom's mouth opened in an obvious attempt to continue his diatribe when Sara let out an almost orgasmic moan.

"Oh my God! Either I haven't had one of these in way too long or I'm really starving!"

"Sara, with me around you should know you don't have to go without," Greg quipped. Suddenly realizing the inappropriateness of his comment, he flashed an apologetic look at Grissom.

It was for naught. Grissom was staring wide eyed at Sara. His tongue absently licking his lips as if readying to devour any crumbs that happened to be left on her mouth. The vein on his neck beat a quickening pulse. Grissom's presence seemed to suddenly loom over the entire hallway. Greg unconsciously took a step back away from him.

Sara apparently had not heard Greg's salacious comment or noticed she had Grissom's undivided attention. She was eyeing her next sweet victim and making loud sucking noises as she cleaned her fingers of the glaze.

"The only thing that could top this is a cup of fresh coffee to go with it. I'll take these to the break room for you Greg," Sara said over her shoulder, still not looking up from the box.

Grissom wordlessly followed.

Greg stared after them, a little bewildered but a lot relieved. Nick was head down skimming the files balanced on the tray of test tubes. He had been oblivious to it all.

He took the tray from Nick and continued down the hall letting out with a sigh,

"Okay, that was weird."
