Thanks for the review!

S.S.T.A.G.- Thanks for being the first to review! I'm still figuring out how it'll end, so I can't give any promises. But keep reading and the concept should come up eventually.

Isis Hotep- Well, I haven't decided what'll happen to Terra yet.... But something will happen in this chapter.

Ch2: The Darkness of the Light

"Heads up!" cried Cyborg as the volleyball came soaring towards Terra's face. He gasped as Terra let it hit her in the face. The ball fell uselessly to the ground.

Now that's gonna hurt later. Thought Cyborg. But why'd she just let it smack her in the face? It's not like her to just zone out like that.

Cyborg opened his mouth; "Hey Terra, are you all right?"; and closed it as Robin stole his words.

"Yeah, are you okay?" Since what he wanted to say had been stolen, he decided to say something else instead.

"Huh?" Terra seemed to zone back in. "Oh. Is it my serve?" she asked half-heartedly.

She picked the ball up from the roof floor, and just barely managed to smack it over the net.

"BB! Look out!" yelled Cyborg as, once again; a volleyball went soaring towards one of his friends heads. This time it smacked off of a head instead of a face.

"Uhh, maybe we should just get some dinner?" suggested Raven, as Beast Boy absently rubbed his head.

Ion only picked at his meal. He wasn't really hungry. He just couldn't stop thinking about that girl. Terra, as her name was.

Ah, Terra. Even her name sounds beautiful. Her long blonde hair. Her style. Everything is perfect about her. And when she joins-

IF, she joins. The nasty little voice spoke again, but Ion quickly shut it out.

And if she joins, then maybe she would like me, too.

"Hey! Earth to Ion! Can I have your dessert?"

It was Elani's sarcastic voice that snapped him out of his thoughts. "Wha?"

"Okay, lover boy, I'll say this slowly. Can I have your D-E-S-S-E-R- T?" She was truly asking for his dessert, but the other thing she said....

"You can tell?" he asked.

"It's written all over your face. It has been since the door to that tower opened and you saw her face. Now, fork over your fudge cake!" Elani's fork darted towards his slice of cake, and in a flash, it was gone.

The girl wiped her mouth clean from her indulgence, and then snapped her fingers. The plant in the corner of the dining hall de-rooted itself, and waddled over to Ion.

"Thanks." It whispered in a breath that smelled like fertilizer. It waddled itself back, and became lifeless again.

Elani's powers. Ion reminded himself.

He half smiled at Elani's creativity, and then let his thoughts drift back to Terra.

Terra stared at her ceiling. The fake stars seeming to wink at her. She couldn't bear to leave the Tower. But, what about Beast Boy?

What about him? Her mind said to her. He probably doesn't like you. They probably can't wait to get rid of you. They knew the made a mistake when they decided to trust you!"

Terra jumped up, and almost screamed. She looked around her dark room. Except for the pail moonlight shining through her balcony, there was nothing there.

So, then how did the last of those thoughts seem to be yelled at you? Her more familiar mind was taking control again. Maybe I drifted off. Oh well. No point in fighting it. She closed her eyes, and tried to fall asleep.

* * *

"Proceed with phase one," growled a scratchy voice from a mini black com-device.

"Yes sir."

* * *

"They hate you and you know it!"

Terra shot up from her bed. That voice again. But this time, although still nothing in the room, the voice continued.

"They despise you!"

"No. You don't even exist! I'm just hearing things," she whispered to herself.

"But you know that I'm more!" protested the voice.

"No,"

"Yes, and you know more then just that. You know that they don't trust you."

"Stop it!" The being was playing on her emotions. It knew her weak points. It knew what hurt her. And it was doing a very good job of doing that.

"No! As long as you walk, you will carry me with you. When you sleep, I'll be your dream. There is no escape from the truth! They don't even like you!"

"Please just leave me alone!" Terra's world was spinning, and then everything went black. When she finally got the courage to open her eyes, she thought that she hadn't. She was in complete darkness.

A red stage light clicked on towards her left. She cranked her neck, and saw Beast Boy standing in the midst of it.

"Beast Boy!" Terra hollered. He looked up, and she crawled towards the shimmering light.

"Get away from me!" he cried.

"What?"

"I said, GET AWAY!"

Terra felt her eyes begin to water. "Why?"

"Why? Because you're a disaster waiting to happen!"

"How could you say that?"

"You'll never truly gain anyone's respect, or even trust!"

Terra felt fresh, hot tears stream down her face. Her room melted back into view.

"Now do you see? Not even Beast Boy likes you! He never did!"

"No," she whispered. She threw her had back into her arms and cried out in sorrow. A cry that pierced the night.

* * *

A dark figure sat in a dark room. The only light came from a miniature black com-device.

"It is done master," said the figure.

"Excellent," said an emotionless voice, "My plan is drawing closer to completion."

The figure stared at the screen, and the cold face of Slade stared back.

* * *

"Terra!" Cried Beast Boy as he ran towards her room, the others on tail.

That shriek probably woke up the entire city! Thought Beast Boy. What happened?

Beast Boy was the first to barge into Terra's Room. She was kneeling there with her head in her hands; sobbing uncontrollably.

"Terra? What's wrong?" asked Beast Boy soothingly.

"Was someone being a burglar?" asked Starfire. She stared at Terra's balcony window, and saw it was still bolted.

"Terra, it's me. Your alright now," cooed Beast Boy.

Why is she shaking so badly? He thought. Something bad must have happened.

She slowly opened her eyes, and Beast Boy felt a warm tear splash on his arm.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

She opened her eyes, and stared at Beast Boy. It was a look that made Beast Boy nervous. As if she knew that he had done something bad.

"Now you care?" she whispered so that only he could hear, and then pushed him away. She tried to stand, but Beast Boy could see her struggling.

"What are you talking about?" asked Beast Boy as he eased her down again.

"Maybe it wasn't real..." she said softly, and then let her head fall against his chest.

"What isn't real?" he asked.

"I..." she started to sob again, "I just don't know anymore!"

Beast Boy wrapped an arm around her, and let her cry.

* * *

Beast Boy's soft heartbeat echoed quietly in her ear. Terra didn't argue when he said he didn't know what she meant. When those words echoed out, she lost all understanding as to what was real. His arm came around her, and she found it comforting.

So warm. So soft. Real.

She let the warmth comfort her, and everything started to grow dark. She didn't fight it, but instead welcomed sleep, and drifted off in his arms.

* * *

"Did you...!" Robin started, but was quickly shut-up by Beast Boy holding up a hand.

Raven watched them shift quietly out of the room, and then lifted Terra from Beast Boy using her powers, and set her peacefully on her bed. She walked out of the door, and let it close.

"So, what do you think happened?" asked Beast Boy.

"I...don't know," answered Robin.

And who does? What a dumb question! Thought Raven.

"Good question," agreed Raven out loud.

"Maybe, we should just let her sleep?" offered Cyborg.

"Yeah," whispered Beast Boy, and Raven didn't even have to use her powers to tell that he was troubled.

* * *

Sunlight blared through the windows of Titan Tower.

"Are you feeling better?" asked Robin as sort of a good morning when Terra walked into the kitchen.

"Fine!" exclaimed Terra, happy that the terrible night was finally over. She noticed that Robin had challenged Cyborg to a rematch in 'Elements', the card game based on real life elements. She sat down and watched.

"WHAA!" she cried when the doorbell rang. Then she felt embarrassed. She still wasn't used to the doorbell.

"Who could that be?" asked Beast Boy, turning away from the stove and breakfast he was cooking.

They met Raven and Starfire in the hall. Both looking tired. The doorbell must've just woken them up.

Terra peeled open the door, and her mouth fell agape when she saw the Elemental Squad standing on the doorstep.

"Have you made your decision?" asked Ion, apparently pleased that she had answered.

"I don't know..." Terra tripped over what to say next. She had completely forgotten about the squad.

"I don't trust these guys, and I don't trust your 'I don't know'. Is it really hard? Dump those guys and come get some breakfast!" shouted Beast Boy.

I don't trust...your I don't know?

The words struck her like a hammer. She couldn't help herself anymore. She exploded as the previous night's memories rushed back to her.

"I don't trust? Did you ever trust me? You little fur ball! Go choke on your own tofu meals!"

"Ter-?" he started, but she cut him off.

"Shove it! I'm joining the Elemental Squad!" She marched out of the tower, and the Squad trudged after her.

* * *

"She is joining master," said a dark figure.

"Excellent," said Slade, "Don't let her leave the mansion."

Okay! End of chapter two! Sorry for taking so long. Just don't forget to review! And don't think what you want to think so far. It's only the second chapter. I guarantee a lot of plot twists.
