A Gift From The Girl In Question

by midoth

Note: this is how I thought the Angel episode, "The Girl In Question", should have ended. I've decided unilaterally that Joss and Co. were doing a bit of fan fiction of their own, and that The Immortal in that story was a Highlander Immortal.

Disclaimer: I didn't invent any of these characters. I'm all admiration to Joss and the others who did.

Angel and Spike were two glum vampires on their return to the LA offices of Wolfham and Hart. They had failed in their mission to Italy to retrieve the head of a demon clan leader and thus stave off a demon war. And all they'd managed to see of Buffy was glimpses of her dancing the night away in the arms of their old nemesis, The Immortal.

Two glum vampires.

Gunn met them.

"We didn't get the head," Angel told him.

"Sure you did," said Gunn. He grimaced. "It's on your desk. Along with a little something extra."

Hurrying into Angel's office, they saw two bags sitting side by side. There was a note attached.

"It's from Buffy," said Angel, reading. He opened one of the bags.

" Well?" said Spike.

"It's the demon's head all right." Angel looked again at the note. "Buffy says with her compliments."

"The other one?"

Angel opened the second bag. Spike slipped up beside him and craned his head to get a look.

"The Immortal."

"Sorta got a surprised expression, don't he?" said Spike.

"Tough breakup," said Angel.

"Yeah yeah," said Spike. He patted himself for a smoke. "It ain't easy being Buffy's boy toy."
