Having a bit of writers block on my others fics at the moment, this is just a little idea i had as i was watching one of the old episodes. Read and enjoy....and tell me what you think. As usual, none of the characters belong to me.

What If?

Lorne looked on warily as Angel took to the stage. He sipped some of his Sea Breeze…well…a lot…and started to listen. As Angel sang the first few notes of Mandy, Lorne was literally blown away. Not by the brilliance of the hero's singing…because that was truly awful. But by pain. His head was suddenly full of it, and of images he didn't understand.

He saw only flashes of each scene. Names came into his thoughts as well. Some he knew, others were strangers. Angel, Gunn, Cordelia, Wesley, Winnifred, Connor and Spike. And with the names, pictures. He saw images of Angel holding a baby, of himself with Angel's family, helping to fight the good fight. He saw things going from bad to worse. He saw Angel firing Wesley and the others, becoming obsessed with someone called Darla. He saw Angel's son being taken away from him - wait a minute, vampires can't have kids, can they? He saw Wesley's throat being cut and he saw Connor returning as an adult. He saw Cordelia's and Fred's death. He saw Wolfram and Harts final plan….and something about a circle of the black thorn?

He blinked as the last image came into focus. He was standing there, holding a gun in his hand. He was staring down at a body…it was someone who seemed very familiar to him….Lindsey? Lindsey was dead. This picture lasted longer then any of the others. By this point he knew that the rest were all dead as well. Cordelia, Fred, Wesley. And that Angel and the rest would die soon if they didn't get help…..

Then the images cleared and he realised that Angel had finished singing. He looked doubtfully at his drink. He struggled to get up from the chair he had sunk into and walked up to the stage, pulling Angel out from the beneath the spotlight.

"So, can you help us? What did you see?" asked Angel, hopefully.

More then I wanted to, thought Lorne. He had no idea what it all meant, and he knew he probably didn't want to find out. He looked at his drink again and shook his head. I didn't have that much, did I? He looked back at the vampire with a soul, who was pinning all hope of success in his latest mission on Lornes answer.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you kiddo," said Lorne sadly. Should I tell him what I've just seen? He thought. It's probably what the powers want. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. But if I don't understand it, how the hell is he and the rest of team angel supposed to? And what good will that do anyone?

No, it's best they take one step at a time. Too much information on the future is a bad thing. In this case, really bad. And what if it didn't come from the powers? What if this is all a sick joke? I need to cast a spell to erase thoughts as soon as possible. With a sigh he started to tell Angel all he could about the latest case, trying to forget what he had just seen.

The End
