King of the School
Sirius didn't take his eyes off Lucius, they were boring into the blond's skull from across the room. Lucius could only comply; a snarl forming across his face. It was like there was no one else in Transfiguration class, no Mcgonagal, no Remus, no one. It was expected that the two would have to come together sometime, both masters of the school and most the people in it. The manner of which they came together was the thing to be discovered.
Both were determined to rule over the other, to make the other fall to their knees, look up and know their reign was over. Slowly, as their well thought out hexes started to form on their lips, the others in the class seemed to start to notice the tension. There was something in the air now, stuffy, suffocating, two great forces soon to collide. It was like some sweet gift of a greater power that class was to end at that moment, Mcgonagal seeming poised to stop what might happen in the hall.
The students shuffled out, silent as possible, trying to catch details of the fight that was sure to come. None were more anxious then James Potter, who walked only steps behind his best mate, just in case backup was needed. Not far behind James Remus was a nervous wreak and Peter was almost falling over himself in excitement.
By the time Sirius got out to the hall Lucius, who had been determined to have the first word, was waiting, wand gripped tight in his hand.
all right Black, lets not take up much of my time. Time to get this done with.
Sirius smirked lightly, Should I get my dueling glove?
As he said this everyone around him could see his brows raise up. Could see his cheeks swell up lightly with laughter. He ran a hand through his long black hair and winked in the direction of a tall, slender and blond Ravenclaw. Lucius on the other hand. His lips quivered a little. It almost looked like he winked at a pretty girl too but it turned out to be an angry twitch.
Snickering came from the Gryffendors behind him while the slytherins mumbled threats under their breaths. Then all the spectators fell silent, mouths hung open. Lucius' wand was raised, as he hissed his incantation. Sirius raised his own wand, the beam jetting out only seconds after Lucius's.
It was too late to take back those hexes, the damage was done and the last thing both saw were the feet of their friends rushing towards them.
Sirius woke up, sweat so heavy he stuck lightly to the sheets, arm in a cast, with 3 best friends looking down at him. James beamed with pride, patting him on the shoulder, Bloody brilliant. You should see him, whole face black and blue. Making quite a fuss about it . I think the nurse is going to strangle him.
Remus crossed his arms over his chest, Your lucky the headmaster sees something in you. You both have one week detention. He paused, smile crossing his face, You really should see his face. Sirius struggled to get a glimpse of Lucius from across the medical wing but there was a crowd gathered around him, all seeming too tall to see over.
How does he look, Lucius asked Snape whose crooked nose happened to be the nearest nose near him.
Awful! Arms broken and he's sweating a lot.
Lucius paused, it took an effort to speak since his face was so swollen and indeed black and blue, And How do I look?
Snape glanced to the other Slytherins, searching for the right thing to say. Thankfully Narcissa stepped up, Like the bloody king of the school, she smiled.
Like your the king of school, Peter said as he beamed down at Sirius.
