Like a phoenix

You don't see me, even when I'm standing here
Just an invisible shadow behind you
But you know, I don't blame you...
The quill shivered and dropped to the polished surface of the table. It sprayed black ink as it landed, successfully ruining the words on the parchment. It mattered little as silent drips of water fell, smoothing out the ink. It blurred into an unreadable mass of black as more tears fell.
He consumes me; I'm scarred and wounded for life
You might not remember, but I can never forget
You are never alone, you never were...A pale hand brushed a fiery red strand of hair away. Large shimmering brown eyes, edged red from crying, opened. They surveyed the quiet room. They stopped as they met bright emerald green and tiredly closed again, soothing the stinging.
I have hope... even in darkness light can come alive
You did it once, and a thousand times again
Our faith and light is here...A shadow of a smile passed over her lips. The watching was nothing new. She had no clue why, months ago she had felt his piercing eyes on her every once in a while and now it was almost a daily routine.
He rapes me, drowns me, pollutes me with dirty hands
He is gone from this place, yet he is here
Darkness surrounds me, even in broad daylight...She always remembered him, it didn't matter what she tried - she would always be reminded by news of death or torture. She knew he felt it too, once or twice. He had been the only one but her who survived a possession of him without suffering from insanity. They were closer by that, but yet they were so far apart. Brothers and friends stood closer and he never confided in her.
We can't run or hide, but we're still on your side
We trust you, love you, you can put our misery to an end
It won't be easy, but who said it would?War raged on, and they were stuck here, worrying constantly. Faces would pale, movements stiffen, conversation die out when the silent flaps of owl wings entered the room. It wasn't uncommon students broke down in tears, from stress or from bad news. Yet she remained oddly calm. Large numbers of close family and friends battled, but she worried little over them.
I have hope... even in darkness light can come alive
You did it once, and a thousand times again
Our faith and light is here...She opened her tired eyes again, seeing the spoiled letters in front of her. It still didn't matter it was ruined. It merely contained depressing words - her diary. She trusted no book to write in, she couldn't - not after what he had done to her, and stuck to random pieces of parchment. And even that didn't matter as she threw them into the fires once she was done spilling her heart out.
You were our hero so many times, it's not fair
You saved us a million times, and never you lost touch
You're like the phoenix, rising from the ashes of death...That, she thought idly, was something that suited to describe him. Like a phoenix... Indeed. He rose every time you would think he was down, surprised you every time you thought you had him figured out.
So you see, we believe he can be defeated
So you see, we trust you to secure our world again
So you see, you were never alone...- - -

Author's note: I have no idea what that was. Bad, most likely. Confusing, definitely. Just something I needed to get off my chest.
