Starfire's Lament

This poem was inspired by the episode "Haunted" and takes place shortly after it. Starfire is going over her thoughts of what happened between she and Robin.

It's dark
And cold
As I sit alone in the night
Echoes of moments still
Twist
And turn
In my mind.

"I see nothing."

"There is no one else here."

Such anger.
I've never seen him so angry.
Angry at himself
Angry at his friends
Angry at me.

"You are...hurting me!"

But now it's dark
And cold
And I lay flat on the roof of the Tower
Soaking up the rain
As it falls down upon
Our home

I discovered this world through
This home
I discovered things of beauty
With your help
I discovered many things

I discovered I loved you

Tonight you did something different
You did not love me back
You hurt me
You damaged me
But the bruises are not confined to my arm
They are also on my heart

I close my eyes and count slowly
One...two...three
This was all just a dream
Four...five...six
Slade was in control of your mind

I miss you

I seek more than your companionship now
