What I have to do
It was a soundless instruction,
Put before me.
To do what they said,
Just to be free.
So I came to you,
And told you what they said.
You just stared at me blankly,
Shaking your head.
When the question arose,
Whether or not I should go.
You smiled gently,
Then just said no.
But I ask,
How can I be free?
To live a life without them,
Just you and me.
Now I look at you,
In to your eyes.
I see no understanding,
No compromise.
You want what you want,
And your words are just lies.
I finally see,
What sits before me?
I said I loved you,
That's no longer true.
You wont love me,
So I cant love you.
Well I say,
Today is just another day.
Ill be here tomorrow,
Alive and just the same.
But still no change comes over your eyes,
Come on believe me we can compromise.
I don't want to give up,
I still want your love.
But I can see your heart,
It belongs to another.
I'm nothing to you,
But she is your lover.
I'm just a tool,
To help with your job.
Well I'm yours no longer,
You ungrateful slob.
Walking away,
Out in the rain.
I fight the urge,
To run in to your arms again.
You probably think Ill come back,
Like I always do.
But this time your 100 watt smile,
Just wont do.
I said I loved you,
Then it was true,
Its not they're any longer,
Sugar we're through.
