Note: Another double drabble. It just didn't want to be that short.
"Grissom?" Catherine said in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"When we were talking on the phone earlier you sounded upset. Now I can see that you've been crying. What's going on?"
Catherine sighed and ushered him into her house. "Eddy called Child and Family Services on me. Told them I was neglecting Lindsey for my job, because I forgot to pick her up from ballet last night. They're doing a formal investigation into it. He's trying to take my baby away from me."
When Catherine was done with her explanation, she was sobbing uncontrollably. Grissom pulled her into his arms and held her tight. Rubbing his hands up and down her back, he slowly rocked her back and forth. When she had quieted, he led her over to the couch so they could sit down. "They are not going to take Lindsey away. If they're doing an investigation then they are going to see what a wonderful mother you are."
Catherine sniffed and snuggled closer to her friend. "But what if they think I'm a lousy mother?"
"Not possible," Grissom replied firmly. He felt Catherine relax after that and he held her close as she drifted off to sleep.
