Author's Notes-I know it is a little early for Halloween, but I wanted to do another Warlord/Seasons poem. I was looking through the History Channel's Website, and I found an interesting article about Halloween's ancient history. I was very interested in the ancient Celtic festival called Samhain, or sow-in as it is pronounced today. You can read the notes at the end of this poem to find out why Samhain was celebrated, and why I wrote this poem instead of writing something about the Warlords dressing up in costume for Halloween.

Disclaimer-I will never own anyone in this poem, so don't bother trying to get any money out of me.

Surprise
Isabel Night

October 31st is Samhain
Or All Hallows Eve
Something happens on that day
That no living human can see
The veil between the two worlds
The living and the dead
Becomes as thin as spider's silk
More fragile than silkworm's thread
This web is not sturdy
It flutters and it fails
And even though I am a spirit,
My heart's own courage will not flutter…much less lose faith and fail.

Can I ask you to keep a secret?
Do you promise not to tell?
Will I be released to see my friends?
Even though I should be in Hell
I have some simple questions
Will they see me one last time?
Will those I call my own recognize me?
Or have I fallen by the wayside?
Dais, Cale, Sekhmet, I have planned a wonderful surprise
My spirit will visit you at Samhain
I promise to be easy to recognize.

THE END

End Notes-Samhain is a Celtic festival celebrated that was held about 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. This day marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, cold winter that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, which would be November 1st on the modern calendar, that the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead became blurred. Thus on the night of October 31st, they celebrated Samhain. It was believed that on this night, the ghosts of the dead returned to earth to visit the living, and thus a logical time for Anubis' soul to pay a visit to Cale, Dais, and Sekhmet.
