Disclaimer: I don't own any of it.

The trouble had begun when Tancred temporarily took a sick Gabriel's bed. "Though he is not from the music department, you're to be as courteous as if he was one of you." Matron had said. Charlie Bone had grinned, there was irony in that. But there was a problem, Charlie couldn't take his eyes off Tancred long enough to sleep some nights, there was just something about him....

But now, there was a loud boom of thunder and Charlie jumped, gulping. He was horrified of storms. He slipped into his dormitory Saturday night. Maisie and his mother would be gone, and Charlie didn't want to go home to only Grandma Bone and Uncle Paton. Paton was just too secretive lately. Letting out a loud whimper, 'too loud' he thought, he turned off his flashlight just as it landed on Tancred's face. "Charlie? What is it?" Charlie shivered and sat down on his bed. "Nothing." A moment of silence, then, BOOM. A large clap of thunder made him literally jump off his bed. "Charlie Bone? You alright?" "Y-y-yeah. I'm just a bit nervous I guess."

There was another pause then Tancred spoke, patting the bed he sat on. "Scared of storms Charlie?" Charlie sank down beside his- 'friend? Aye. But is that all I want?' "W-well... yeah. Back at home I'm not because, well, I really don't know, there's always calm about the house." Tancred laughed. "Not my place man, the stormiest around." Charlie nodded an agreement. Another clap of thunder and flash of lightning. And unable to help himself, he latched onto Tancred's arm. Turning red, he pulled back as he saw Tancred's face illuminated by his shocking hair. (Pun intended.)

"Now hold on, you do remember what my ability is right?" Tancred said with somewhat of a laugh in his eyes. "Yeah." Charlie said. There was an odd closeness between them. "Lie down Charlie, you can sleep here tonight if it'll help I don't mind." And so, feeling calmer then usual, Charlie lies down beside Tancred as the shocking boy did the same.

He awoke again sometime in the night and found that the storm was dead. But he also found that even if he had wanted to move, he couldn't, sometime in the night, Tancred's arms had snaked their way protectively about his waist. Suddenly a soft murmur came. "I like this, Charlie." Tancred said, his soft breath enticing Charlie. Warmth was coming from Tancred and seeping into Charlie's very bones, leaving him in a state of dreamy delirium. "I like this too, Tancred. Tancred... I think..." A pause. "I think I love you." Tancred's eyes opened wide and his hair began to illuminate the whole room. Charlie now awoke fully and realized what he had said.

Charlie began to stutter. "W-well... I uh... I... well its true." Charlie finished weakly. "Charlie, I feel the same. I'm so glad you said it." Tancred's lips captured his and they kissed, a shock running up and down Charlie's spine, and for a moment, the glow that came from Tancred's body surrounded them both. Tancred's arms found their way around Charlie's neck, and Charlie's came around Tancred's waist. "I love you Charlie Bone."

Needless to say Charlie slept the best he had in ages after that.
