Disclaimer: I don't own CCS. Just the plot. ^.~
My first one-shot, in Touya's view about his little sis, Sakura.
Dear Kaijuu,
I know that you won't remember this; after all, you were only 4 when this happened.
We were in the park and I had gone off to buy some ice-cream for us. But instead of following me, which is what you should have done, you sat there on the bench. Waiting for me to come back to you.
Your hair was still very short then, and even though you were very naïve, you knew the good from the bad. You enjoyed watching TV, and also singing all those ads. So you knew that it was bad to smoke.
A man came to sit down next to you, that day and he took out a packet from his pocket, while you swung your chubby little legs and watched. It was a cigarette pack, and while he lighted one, stuck it into his mouth and sucked, you watched with surprised looks.
I knew what you were going to do. I was watching from the line as you tapped his arm with your small hand, looking very kawaii as Daidouji-san would say. You asked him to stop in your babyish voice, saying that it wasn't very good for him.
I watched him, rather surprised that you knew so much even though you were 4 and a half. You told him to not smoke, stop and enjoy the fresh air and smell all the lovely scent that came from the flowers around.
He smiled at you, but of course, you wouldn't remember. He thanked you, put out the cigarette and walked away as you waved goodbye.
I was very proud of you that day. You know I normally don't say stuff like that but I was really proud that you told that man to stop smoking. You sure gave him a lot to think about.
Nowadays, I don't get to see you that often now that you're living with that gaki. I know you don't want me to call him that but you should know kaijuu, old habits are hard to let go. After all, I still hear you leave the light on in your room.
He's a good boy. I know you think I hate him, but if I had to give you away someday to a young man, it would put me at rest knowing it's the gaki who will be in your hands. He knows how to take care of you and how to keep you tame.
I know someday soon you'll be ready to commit yourself to one man. Then I'll watch you turn away from me, and walk out of my life without me being able to stop you. If Otou-san doesn't take you down the aisle, then I would be the one to kiss you on the forehead, give you one last hug and pass you to your new husband.
Kaijuu, I realize that I'll never hear your babyish voice again, or see your short auburn hair blowing in the wind, as you've let your hair grow. You've matured into a stunning woman, as beautiful as obaa-san.
What I really wanted to say to you kaijuu, is that if you do ever marry the gaki and have horribly annoying little kaijuus and gakis, I will always be proud of you.
You know that.
This story was inspired on a cold Wednesday night, right after Jas's basketball game. Even though the story is based upon one of my experiences when I was a little girl, it just felt really right to write this. If I had an older bro, I'd wish he's be as protective and secretly loving as Touya.
Adieu,
silverymare
