Sakura in the Wind
Author's Notes: Who does Kagura happen to meet in the afterlife? Sesshoumaru's mother ...
Kagura is wandering in the afterlife and stumbles upon a garden full of flowers. However, she notices that someone is also here.
'Who's this' Kagura thought.
Silver hair, straight magenta stripes ... half moon marking, the woman is beautiful. Even more so than Sesshoumaru ...
'You've got to be shitting me.'
"Hello."
The inu-youkai didn't say anything, she just acknowledged her presence with no readable expression.
'Well, she must be her. The similarities are uncanny.' Kagura thought. "You must Sesshoumaru's mother, am I right?"
"Ah, so you know my son." The woman said.
"You could say that..." Kagura said.
"Lover?"
"Uh, well ..." Kagura couldn't find any words to say, revealing a regretful facade.
The woman caught on.
"I see ..."
Long silence
"My name is Sakura, yours?"
"Kagura."
"That's a lovely name."
"Likewise."
"So what's my son like? I never really got to know him, I'm not even sure he even knows my name. I died when he was young. He was far too young."
"Oh" Kagura said while deep in thought. "Well, when watching him, he's so calm, quiet and yet so cold and uncaring. Yet, he has this little human girl following him, Rin I think her name was.
Sakura seemed to be surprised. "Really? Even when he was young, he never thought very highly of humans."
"Oh, he still doesn't."
Sakura chuckled, Kagura as well.
"But deep down, under that shell of ice, he does have a heart. When that little girl was kidnapped, he saved her. When I was dying, he came for me...and watched me go."
"He couldn't save you?"
"How could he have?"
"The sword of the heavens, Tensiega, has the power to save lives." Sakura stated.
'So that was the Tenseiga, eh?' Kagura thought, clearly remembering Sesshoumaru putting his hand over the hilt of a sword. The sword she never saw him draw. "Sesshoumaru's Father couldn't save you because of shouki that dissolved you?"
'The Tensiega didn't work for her as well, huh.' Sakura thought. "Yea, strikingly similar to what happened, inevitably, my poison killed me. We are quite alike, you and I. Inevitably doomed and cannot be saved. We are like two Sakura blossoms, we only live shortly, blossom, then die."
"Sakura..."
"A seer told us something about our son. He foretold that those around him will die. I'm sure his father would have wanted Sesshoumaru to have Tensiega so that maybe those around him won't. If you ever wondered, that is why he was named, Sesshoumaru."
"Life is so unfair."
"Yes, life is unfair. But you know, those flowers are meant to be beautiful. But, I'll tell you a secret. Sakura blossoms wouldn't so special if they last forever. You see, everything is so much more beautiful, when you're doomed. My husband understood this, I'm sure my son does too."
Both of them smiled.
"But during my life, those short bittersweet moments," Kagura said, while thinking on that parting with Sesshoumaru. "I'll treasure those memories, forever."
"So I take it he said something ... "Sakura said, eager to hear more about her son."
"In my last moments, Sesshoumaru showed up, at first, I thought he came by mistake, but he told me outright, that he did know that it was me. What more could I have hoped for to come true other than freedom? In the end, I knew that he cared for me, and I hope he knew, that I love him."
"That's sweet. So what will you do now."
"I'll go wherever I want. I am the free wind."
"Yes, and someday, well see him again."
"Until then, I'll just wait."
Sakura drifted with the Wind
! Review !
What do you think? For some reason when I watched the third movie, when Inu-papa was all begging Tenseiga, that it failed him once before. So I compared Sesshou-mama with Kagura.
