With You Here

------------------------------------------------------------------

This my first try at a death-type fic. It's told through the eyes of Lloyd Irving. Please Read and Review. The title? Couldn't think of a name. I wrote it during school. (Stupid hellhole)

Disclaimer: I do not own Tales of Symphonia or any of its characters.

With that said let's begin.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember the blade piercing into my chest......destroying and ripping my ribs and part of my heart and lung. I hadn't felt any pain at first, then slowly the blade made its presence known.

A searing pain began to fill my chest as blood flooded into the spaces between my organs and out of the wound. The bits of broken bone opened wounds deep inside my body.

With the strength remaining in me, I raised my sword and struck at the monster in front of me. My sword cut through its shoulder and cleaved through its torso, finally exiting on its opposite side. The monster's grip on its weapon grew tighter and as it fell, the blade widened the wound as it was pulled out.

Now you realize that the blow never came. Even though I couldn't see you, I knew that your eyes were watching me. I turned and asked.....

"Are you okay?"

Now I can see the tears beginning to form in your eyes. The immense sadness reflecting in them. Then you spoke, your voice breaking, "Why?"

I felt my legs beginning to give, their strength fading, "Because," I sank to my knees, "It was you." I closed my eyes and fell to the ground.

You ran to my side and grasped my hand tightly, afraid that I'd already drawn my last breath. I opened my eyes to see fear, loss, and sadness upon your face. "You always act without thinking." your voice broken and barely above a whisper.

Then you turned to the Professor and asked, "Can you do anything?" The Professor walked towards us and knelt beside me. She held her staff out over me. The tip began to glow a faint green. Soon the tip dims and goes out. The Professor stands and turns away, not wanting to accept the sad truth.

"No," you whisper, "you can't die, Lloyd."

I give a weak smile and say, "It's okay. I'm dying because I'd rather it be me than you." I raised my hand and placed it on your cheek. Now I can no longer feel the pain. Slowly, a numbness begins to lay claim to the rest of my body. "Anyway, I can die happy......because you are here."

You took my hand in both of your hands, brought it to your lips, and kissed it softly. That was the last thing I felt before the numbness overtook my body. Now my eyes grow heavy and shut. There is nothing but a sweet, comforting darkness surrounding me now. My mind begin to fade slowly. To my grief, the last thing I hear is your broken voice.

"No.....Lloyd......I lo....."

Please, don't cry too much. I can die peaceful, with you here by my side.

Fin.

Yes, it is cliche and yes it was short (but short it was meant to be). Well, like I said this was my first time to try this kind of fic, so if it sucked that's why. Thank you for reading this. Oh by the way, I intended to leave the girl he died for a mystery. I can't really decide who I see Lloyd with. In the future, I plan to write a Lloyd/Sheena and a Lloyd/Colette, so be on the look out for them. Once again, thank you.
