A/N: This is the first CSI fic I've posted on here, though I do write a lot just for my own pleasure. Enjoy!
Catherine sat down on the hard, cold bench in the CSI locker room, 'What was that?' she thought to herself. After so long... and all of a sudden one little slip and she was in his arms. And they just looked at each other. She knew she shouldn't have even looked at him for that long. This was bad territory they had literally tripped into -- but then why did it feel right? Why did it feel perfect with him holding her? And now things seemed... weird. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable, and it didn't seem like he was either. She was just so confused. She knew nothing could happen between them, no matter how badly she wanted it to. Policy was more important to her. She didn't want to get transferred for something like this...
She was broken out of her thoughts when Warrick walked into the locker room. He gave her a lopsided smile, and she knew that she was lying to herself. She'd be with him in a heartbeat. But that was the problem—She didn't know what he wanted. Sure, she knew there was some chemistry between them, but it had never been discussed. She noticed Warrick was staring at her.
"Cath, you okay?"
"Hmm? Oh, yeah... I'm fine. Just... thinking."
She got up from the bench and began to move, but collided with Warrick instead. They both began to laugh, and said their apologies. And as Catherine moved to the right, Warrick moved to his left and the bumped again. 'This is getting ridiculous,' she thought. She looked at Warrick. And that feeling came back. The same feeling she had at the sewer. That... desire. And she saw it in his eyes as well. He moved a lock of stray hair that was in her face, and left his hand on her cheek. She began to feel lightheaded.
"Warrick, I—"
But he put his finger to her lips, and shook his head. "I know, Cath." And he placed a gentle kiss to her lips. She felt faint. She wanted more, but she knew now was not the time, nor the place to do this. He smiled at her, and she smiled back and hugged him.
"Thanks Warrick." She felt him nod against her. They moved from their embrace, and an unspoken pact was made between them. This wouldn't affect their work. No matter what happened now, they'd still be friends. But she had a feeling that whatever was gonna happen would be wonderful.
