Chapter 1: Tainted Memories
Hello; my name is Katterine Elisbathe Tomis. I know, it's a strange name. That, however, is not the only strange thing about me. I never knew my parents, I didn't have a childhood, and I was raised by a military captain. To top it all off, there has been a man visiting me every night, ever since I can remember. The thing is, he invades my dreams. He tells me the future; things I don't want to hear. He tells me that they're dead; that I'll never see their faces. I hate him. And hate isn't a strong word for this feeling.
Something tells me there's something wrong with what I am. I am a soldier; I am a pilot; I am a Dragon Slayer.
I sat in my room one night, trying to think on what he told me: Katterine... They didn't want you... They left you on Dimmitri's doorstep...
I tried to ignore him, but we are the same person, and he wants me to hear. He won't let me ignore him. His name is Shade; the half-blood demon I saw in the forest that night... From that night on, he haunted my dreams. There was another. Her name is Kaitlyn. She was his slave, and he wouldn't let her go... So now, there are three of me. Kaitlyn tries to keep me awake at night, screaming, trying to keep me away from him. She screams as long and as hard as she can, not caring about the pain he causes her later. Without the voices in my head, I would go mad. I would be alone in the dark; and that is the only thing I fear.

But he didn't know who she was...
I cry every night, and I know they can hear me. I don't care. It hurts not to know who you are...
