Why? /Dad!
"Um, hi. I need to check one more person into my room." "I'll need their name." "Luka Kovac." "Thank you, that will be an extra twenty dollars. Same amount of nights as you and your brother?" "Yeah and hes not my brother, he's my son." "Oh, um, here's his key." "Thanks."
In our room Alex gets one bed and I share the other with Luka.
'Why did I leave? I know Luka would have protected me, and Alex.
"Luka." I hope he is still awake. "Hmmm."
I feel him roll towards me and rap his arms around me to pull me closer to him.
"Why did you not come over after Steve came back?"
"He told me to stay away." He says it so simply, asif it was obvious.
"Don't ever listen to him, he's just jelous. Besides, we need you. I need you."
"I love you Sam. I love Alex too"
"I love you too Luka."
The sleeping Alex from the other side of the room murmers in his sleep: "I love you mom, I love you Luka, I mean dad."
