"Am I where I want to be?" Spike asked the man sitting at the fire.

"The one you seek is in a cave 10 hours walk towards the rising sun."

The sun. Now there was a problem. It would never be dark for that long, luckily he was prepared. Spike grabbed his tent and started walking away.

"I have sent another that way this night. She is a vampire, like you, but did not have protection from the sun. She will burn."

"Another?" Spike turned back to the man.

"Yes. A few hours ago. You can still catch up to her if you hurry."

"And why would I want to do that? Seems I should be happy to eliminate the competition."

The wise man smiled a knowing smile and did not speak another word. Spike looked at him for a moment, then faced east and began walking.

Spike looked up at the sky for the 7th time in as many minutes. He'd have to set up camp soon, and this looked like as good a spot as any. He threw the tent from over his shoulder and began working. 20 minutes later, the tent was still just a pile of parts, strewn all over the ground.

"Bloody hell," he cursed, kicking a pole. "Ouch. Bloody hell!"

He looked up and saw someone in the distance, walking towards him. No, not walking, running, only he couldn't see who it was yet. He shrugged and bent down to look at the tent pieces again.

"Should have bloody brought the instructions. Or a torch or something. Okay, this is a pole. Poles go here..."

"Blondie bear?"

Spike looked up. It was like his worst nightmare come true. The person walking towards him was his blonde ex-girlfriend. I mean, the one he didn't like. "Oh no. Harmony, what are you doing here?"

"What about you? Have you been to see him? You didn't make him cranky did you?"
"I haven't been anywhere yet, what are you talking about?"

"That demon guy, who gives people back their souls? That's where you came from, isn't it? He's the only thing in that direction."

"Harmony, you're going the wrong way. The demon man's over there." He pointed back the way Harmony had came from.

"Oh," she paused and looked around. "I must have got turned around. Anyway, it all worked out for the best, 'cause I really need a tent."

"Harmony, what makes you think I'm letting you in here? And why do you want a soul anyway?"

"You'll let me in there because I know how to set it up. I was a girl-guide until 5th grade, then it became so tacky, so I just left, and then of course everyone else left too and I was like-"

"Harmony!" Spike growled at her.

"Yeah?"

"Just set up the tent."

"'Kay. Anything for you, Spikey. I'm so happy we're back together again, I've just been lost without you."

"Really. Cause I seem to remember you saying that if you ever saw me again, you'd just 'back away'."

Harmony laughed nervously as she put up the tent. "Well, we were both upset then, things were said, let's just put it behind us, and look forward to the future."

Spike sighed and looked her up and down. There was supposed to be trials for this thing. She wouldn't last 5 minutes in a fight. Oh well.

"Harmony. Why do you want a soul?"

"Oh, funny story, see, after our... falling out, or whatever, I went to see Cordy, but you know, 'evil', things happened and she kind of, tried to kill me."
"Couldn't possibly see why."

"Anyway, she tried to kill me, but this green guy had told me to stick with her! But after all that had happened I couldn't just go back without something being different, so I had a little think and wound up here!"

"A little think? Harmony, that was over a year ago!"
"Well it was a very good think. Look, I've got the tent set up. Wanna see?" she asked, biting her lip and looking at Spike flirtatiously. Spike mentally rolled his eyes, but then he thought for a moment. After he got this soul business finished, he probably wouldn't be able to have a good shag for a long while. With a conscience, he knew he'd never do something like that to Buffy. But for now, he was still just a demon...
