Chapter 2: Welcome to the 21st century!

"Come on Yami! We have to hurry or we'll be late!" Downstairs, Yugi shouted as Yami was in his room on the first floor. Yugi still didn't have an idea what to tell his friends about the other youth. The hikari couldn't tell them 'Hey guys – meet Yami the spirit of the millennium puzzle'. They would think he was mad. For some reason he also disliked the idea greatly to tell them he was a relative of him.
Yami made his way downstairs slowly, observing everything. This was all so new. He has to ask Yugi to tell him more about this world. So many things in this house were strange. It seemed he has missed a lot ...
For example the strange 'box' in Yugi's room. Yami could swear he heard people talking in it!!! How they all fit in the tiny thing, he didn't know. Fact is, they suddenly started talking or was it singing? He demanded to know who they were and they had the nerve to ignore HIM! Yami decided to tell his Yugi to dismiss the slaves. *MY Yugi?!?! Where that that come from?* But back to the question at hand, NO ONE was allowed to speak to him like that! After all he was the ..., the ...
'What was I going to say?' Yami asked himself. He has NO bloody idea who he was, but he has the feeling he must be someone very important ... The spirit sighed sadly. Questions and more questions and no answers at all. His shoulders hang down depressed.
"Are you coming, Yami?" the sweet voice of hikari asked him, standing in front of him. Yami blinked. He was lost in his thought and hasn't noticed that he was downstairs.
Yami smiled back at him. One glance at his hikari and all depression was forgotten. What was there about Yugi?
Silently Yami made a promise 'I swear to protect you my hikari, my light. Nothing will happen to you as long as I'm by your side. I'll do everything to make you happy. You freed me from my prison and you'll give me something to look forward too. You're smile. You're face. My Yugi' (Everyone goes awwww; readers: SHUT UP!!!)
Yugi oblivious to the fact what special gift he received, looked at Yami confused. Why was the spirit looking at him that way? It made him feel uncomfortable, but special at the same time. His eyes were shining and his smile made his knees go weak.
But the hikari hasn't time to find out the reason, because it just happened that he glanced at his watch and realised what time it was. Without any word he took the spirit's wrist and dragged with him, coming to a standstill as Yami suddenly stopped in front of the house.
Yugi turned around curiously. He hasn't time for this ... they are going to be late. His thoughts immediately forgotten when he looked at the other youth. Yami's eyes were huge and his mouth hang open in awe. His eyes were showing different emotions. Shock ... disbelief ... wonder ... curiosity ... and a tiny bit of fear.
It took a while for Yugi until he put this information together. Yugi was imprisoned in darkness and has no idea what the modern work was working!!! How old was Yami anyway?
"Yami, are you all right?" the short teen asked the taller one worriedly. Not receiving an answer he repeated his question. This time with more luck.
"Yugi ... what is this?" Yami pointed at the cars on the street. "That's a car Yami" Yugi replied, feeling a bit stupid. How was Yami supposed to know what a car is? "It's like a horse, but it's not an animal. It's a machine. This means, well, it's working on his own ..." as you see Yugi has no idea how to explain it to Yami.
"Yugi, what year do we have?" Yami asked again. "2004"
"?" Nothing clicked in Yami's mind so he decided to find answers himself.
The spirit rested his forehead against the others, closing his eyes and concentrating. In this state of mind he hasn't noted the hot blush on his hikari's face, making him look red like a tomato.
Leaning back after a few minutes, he looked slightly confused. Yami explained to his hikari that he was wandering through his mind, trying to understand the modern world. So these were cars and the thing in Yugi's room was a radio (Have you guessed it? I was a stupid little idea in my head for some time) and a lot more information were swirling around his head, making Yami feeling dizzy and he collapsed on his knees. That was too much information at once. Yugi rushed immediately at Yami's side to make sure he was ok.
"I'm ok, Yugi. Don't worry. It was just a little too much for me, that's all. I'm alright though." Yami answered the slightly panicking teen.
Yugi helped Yami standing and they slowly began walking to meet Yugi's friends.
The little hikari smiled brightly, loving the curiosity of his new friend. They often have to stop and Yugi has to explain things to Yami. He loved the way Yami's eyes lighten up when something caught his attention.

It was no wonder they arrived much too late at the arcade, where Yugi was supposed to meet his friends. The small teen spotted them in a corner, Joey and Tristan apparently playing Duel Monsters.
He went towards them, Yami following him. This place fascinated Yami and he felt very comfortable. It gave him a familiar feeling too ...
"Hey" Yugi greeted his friends, the addressed turning to him, forgetting the duel for the moment.
"Hey Yugi! You're late, you know" the blonde with the wild hair told the hikari.
"We were afraid you forgot us" a boy with brown hair and a weird hairstyle added.
Then the small group noticed another person behind Yugi. The hikari stepped to the side and Yugi's friend face a young man, appearance similar to Yugi.
"Who is that Yugi?" The only girl in the group spoke up.
"Guys, meet Yami. He ... He is ..." 'think fast Yugi' "... a friend and will stay with me for some time" Yugi explained.
"Yami, this are Joey, Tristan and Tea" he pointed at each of them.
"Nice to meet you all" Yami bowed slightly.
"Me too" the boys said at the same time.
The girl bowed slightly and smiled. Yugi was very thankful that none of his friends pressed further into the subject.
"Hey Yami. Want to play a round Duel Monsters" Joey asked.
"Yes, but I'm afraid I never played this game before" Yami answered.
"We explain it to you" Yami's hikari reassured the spirit.
The group, especially Yugi, were impressed by Yami's skill. Yami got the rules really quickly and mastered the game in no time. He defeated Tea, Honda and Joey easily. Even Yugi lost to Yami, who was a rather good duellist. Yugi's friends begged Yami to tell them some tricks, but the spirit refused and just told them he was lucky.
They decided to challenge Yami to other games too. The played darts, table football, chess (I have no idea what this game is, but I read it in a few fics *shrug*). The group wasn't able to defeat their new friend in a single game. They soon found out that Yami couldn't turn down a challenge. His eyes were shining in excitement at the mention of one.
Honda challenged Yami to a motor-racing game (You know when you are sitting on a motorbike and you have to steer the motorcycle and you watch it on the TV? I love it!!!). Yugi hardly watched the game as his eyes were fixed on Yami's form. He has to admit he moved rather nicely ... (What? Don't look at me like that! ^.~)
The group was a little disappointed as none of them could beat Yami, but Yami was a fair winner and they didn't mind loosing that much. They definitely liked Yami.
This was the beginning of a great friendship and probably between some of them probably more.

I love them both to peaces! To your question: Well yes, my natural English is German. Can you speak a little German too? Anyway, I think I would faint, if a hot guy like Yami came out of the T.V. But such things sadly never happen to me! ^__^
