Chapter 3: First encounter with the enemy

The afternoon was far too soon over. Yami quickly became friends with Tristan and Joey ... and well compulsory with Tea too (you guys voted for Tea bashing! But it will only be mild and I promise Tea fans that she'll have a nice part in my fic 'Depression'). The boys soon found out that they have a lot in common like the interest in games and the same sense of humour. Tea on the other side was ... too dump to understand any of the jokes the guys made. (U_U A group of guys and I say girls are stupid?!?! What is wrong with me? I have to bring Mai in the picture!!! We need a smart girl after all ^_^)
Yami was very comfortable with his friends and he didn't feel left out like he thought he would. He might don't remember his past, but the darkness was sure that he never had REAL friends. That much he was sure of!
But he couldn't say the same about the stupid brown-haired girl ... what was her name? Ah yes Tea. For Yami's taste she talked too much and what she said didn't make sense to him. Well probably it was an insider-joke, but if it was, neither of the boys seemed to understand it either. He'll have to ask them, when he knew them a little better. He didn't want them to get mad at him and Yugi seemed to like her ... (excuse me I'm getting sick I don't hate Tea but I greatly dislike Yami/Tea or Yugi/Tea fics) Besides Tea seemed to have an unusual way to tell someone 'I like you'. The spirit has to admit that he didn't know much about this century, but he was pretty sure that it wasn't a normal thing to attach 'itself' to someone else's arm until the blood stopped circulation through this part of the body. This girl has a death grip. You probably have guessed by now that the poor soul was Yami. (bashing is fun! ^^ No back to the story)

Yugi invited the gang to diner with Yami and him, as his grandfather won't be home before tomorrow. The little hikari was content to watch the spirit laughing, joking and simply enjoying him. Though the darkness didn't seem the kind of guy to be that carefree. Yugi couldn't quite place the feeling, but it was a nice bubbling sensation in his stomach. Probably he was sick?
Although Yugi wanted Yami to have fun, he couldn't deny the feeling of jealousy, when Tea came near his new friend. HE was supposed to like Tea. That was the reason. Right? He wasn't jealous at Tea, for flirting with Yami, was he? Yugi suddenly wasn't so sure anymore ...

The group of friends was walking down a small alley, heading in the direction of the game shop. The sun was already set and no soul was out anymore. They were all seeking comfort and protection in their houses. That wasn't really an unusual thing. It was more the fact that is seemed darker than normal and not one stare was to be seen. They all felt very uneasy and the group couldn't help, but feeling watched, even when they were alone in the long, dark alley. None of them admitted the thought to the other's as they were sure that they felt it too or they were just getting pathetic.
One could almost see the tension in the air, pulsing through the night like lightning.
Goosebumps were rising as the cold night air encircled their bodies. Yugi unknowingly was seeking comfort in Yami's presence and kept coming closer until his arms were nearly brushing against Yami's hips. The latter mentioned was tense, prepared for an attack. Why he was reacting this way, he didn't know. Perhaps an old memory? He could practically taste the danger on his tongue.
The girl in the group didn't feel the seriousness of the situation as she kept on babbling about friendship. (I have nothing against friendship, but one don't have to talk about it ALL the time) Tristan and Joey on the other hand were noticing the tension in their friend's movements and decided to keep an eye on their surroundings.
"Who do we have there? If it isn't little Yami" a dark voice interrupted the silence. Yugi, Joey, Tristan and Tea nearly have a heart attack, while Yami tried to find out where the mysterious void did come from. His eyes settled on a pair of scary lavender eyes. They haven't the nice shade of his hikari's amethyst eyes, Yami noted. Yugi's eyes were a lot darker in colour and made him look nice and innocent. This pair of eyes he didn't tear his eyes from was lighter in colour, making them more scarier and dangerous-looking. The spirit decided to keep an eye on the person as he has a feeling, that this man would kill him, the very moment he wasn't looking.
Yugi wanted to jump in Yami's arms and hid in the muscular chest, instead he was frozen on the spot, as were his friends too. The person was hidden in the shadows, only his eyes visible to the group.
"I waited so long for this moment. But my moment has come at least and I will get my revenge, Yami! I'll see you in hell!" the voice hissed. Yami has a millisecond to react as a ball of energy was shot in his direction. He evaded the attack not a moment to late and the wall behind Yami exploded.
The group gaspered in shock and Yami clenched his teeth in pain as a big rock hit his back. The wound wasn't very deep, but he still was losing blood. None of Yami's friends noted the injury or Yugi would have jumped immediately to the spirit's side to help him. *It's better that way. I don't want them to worry or get hurt themselves, especially Yugi. I promised him to protect him and I won't break it. It wasn't his fault that this guy wants my dead ... Even if I don't know why ...*
"Oh come on. That was it already? I expected more from you, almighty Yami" the figure mocked, bowing slightly, which was hardly visible in the dark night.
Yugi greeted his teeth angrily and glared at the man, hidden in the shadows. No one insulted his friends, especially his yami and get away with it!
"Who are you? And what should I have done to you?" Yami interrupted Yugi's thoughts and drew the attacker's attention back at him.
"You can't remember?" the dark figure asked, sounding surprised, but not believing the story.
"No." Yami said, barely above a whisper, hurt in the voice. "Who are you?" Yami changed the subject.
Tea, Joey and Tristan were looking at each other puzzled. What were they talking about?
The man suddenly started to laugh manically, finding the situation to his liking.
"So you don't know who you are, Yami? That makes it a lot more fun to destroy you as you can't defend yourself" the lavender-eyed man told Yami, ignoring the question. Before Yami could glare at the apparent maniac, he was attacked again. This time he couldn't move away fast enough, because of his wound. Nothing was going to save him now .....................
But the energy ball never hit him. Instead it vanished in the air. The puzzle was glowing and has created a sort of shield around the owner of the puzzle. The group was looking at Yami in awe and they started to wonder who or what Yami really was. The young man wasn't ordinary, that much they know for sure.
The dark man snarled, not happy how this turned out. Yami started to discover his powers – that wasn't good. He used Yami's current carelessness and prepared the next step. But this time he sent a powerful gust in his opponent's direction, hoping to go round the barrier.
The blow hit Yami hard and he was smashed against an other wall behind him. But he wasn't one to give up that easily. His eyes were turning a scarier shade of red and his puzzle began to glow again. Energy was radiating from Yami's palm, rising in size dramatically. No one was prepared for the attack, which was following. The spirit raised his hand and extended it towards the dark figure, which was glued to the spot in shock. The blast of energy was heading towards his opponent faster than the eye could see and hit him with full force. They heard a scream from the dark creature and then it was over. The dark shadows left with their creator and the stars were returning to light the darkness.
Yugi looked at his yami, who has trouble with breathing. Then suddenly the spirit's world went black, he collapsed on the ground unconscious. He never heard the screams of his friends or the desperate cries of his hikari's begging him to wake up.

In both stories Yugi saves the MP and the TV plays a role, but then they have different plots. You'll see. And don't ever say again you talk too much! I love long reviews ^__^
