THE POWER OF A WISH
Chapter 7: Danger – spirit in school
*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*
BEEP ... BEEP BEEP ... BEEP BEEP BEEP ... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
"Oh shut up already" the tri-coloured teen shouted at his alarm clock and then nearly smashed it when he 'nicely pressed' the button to turn it off (mental note: Annoying alarm clocks are evil and not easy to break – I can't believe mine isn't broken yet – after flying across the room twice ^^) Luckily for him (or the clock) it decided to respect his master's wishes and stopped making that awful noise. (I swear they have an own mind – why else do they start to beep after I pressed the damn button – Ok, ok I shut up)
Yugi hid his face in the pillow, trying to block out the first rays of sunshine. The teen wondered dryly if he could suffocate himself with it. To say he had a bad night would be the understatement of the week. The only thing the lighter half did, was to turn and toss around the whole night. And when he fell asleep a few times he woke up not much later, frightened by nightmares concerning a certain yami.
The guilt was eating him up and he couldn't stand it any longer. Tossing the bed sheets aside he stood up and walked straight to Yami's room. The teen raised his arm to knock, but then hesitated. Should he really? How will his yami react?
Making his decision he knocked softly, a lump forming in his throat. No reply. Yugi's heartbeat spiked up and he tried again, this time remarking his demand verbal too. "Yami?!" Again the same reply; silence.
Panicking, he dashed into the room. But nothing his mind could have made up, would be that horrible as the sight before him.
The spirit was facing the wall beside the window. Each of his hands on either side of his head fists clenching and unclenching repeatedly. His hair was a mess as if somebody pulled on them. His breath came out in short gasps.
"Yami?!" Yugi tried softly, his trembling hands were reaching out towards the darkness. Finally reacting to the words, he slowly turned around, facing the frightened hikari. Yugi's eyes widened. The normally beautiful crimson eyes full of fire and confidence were dulled to an almost black colour. 'Did he stand there the whole night?' Yugi wondered, still shocked by the darkness' appearance.
Yami looked as shocked as his hikari, if not even more. He wasn't aware of the extra presence in the room, even less was he composed to come face to face to his light. Yugi wasn't supposed to see him yet. Immediately he turned around, away from Yugi frozen on the spot. The darkness closed his eyes, trying to find his composure. *I can't let him know yet* he convinced himself.
Before his hikari could express his question the yami faced him again, greeting him "Good morning, Yugi" to distract him from the subject at hand. Yugi looked at Yami disbelieving. 'Had it even happened?' The light searched his darkness eyes for any emotions, but found none. They looked like they always do. Yugi was unsure if he was relieved or concerned to see his other half back to his old behaviour.
Once more Yami didn't let him ask the question. "Yugi, it's getting late! We have to hurry or we will be late for school. I take a shower and then I meet you downstairs" With that he was out of the room and disappearing in the bathroom before Yugi could answer.
Yugi walked downstairs, thinking about Yami's reaction. His grandfather was already in the shop, so Yugi made some toast for Yami and himself. 'He would tell me if something was wrong, wouldn't he?'
"Shit, shit, shit" he scolded. The hikari was distracted and he forgot the toast. Most of the toasts have a golden colour, but some ... could be mistaken for black. He threw them away and waited for his yami to accompany him to school.
Sure, he came downstairs a few minuets later, smiling at his hikari kindly. Yugi in reflex returned it, but then remembered something "Yami ... I'm really sorry what happened yesterday. I was really mean and you should know- "he began, but the darkness interrupted "It's ok, Yugi. I'm sorry too. Let us forget it and start over" with that he offered a hand to Yugi, who accepted it happily.
Relieved Yugi forgot completely the incident in Yami's room. 'He forgave me and he seems fine. Why bother?' he decided. Happily he walked with his friend to school. Little did he know, that Yami's disappearance, will have further effects on his life ...
*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~
"Attention class! Today I want you to meet two new students in our class."
'Two? I thought Yami was the only one?' Yugi wondered perplexed. (So was I, but then I got an idea!)
"Class, welcome Mai Valentine. She comes from the USA and moved to Domino a week ago."
The blonde haired girl, called Mai, stepped forward and nodding once, looked bored around the class. The young woman with the white top and the purple skirt aroused a lot of attention. Especially the boys in the class were shouting catcalls, including two boys called Joey and Tristan. The girls were disappointed that it wasn't a boy and were pouting. Mai rolled her eyes and didn't show any sign of other acknowledgement. She was used to that reaction. (Mai IS NOT arrogant. I repeat: NOT arrogant! I just wanted to make her cool, sorry if I failed)
"Calm down class!" Ms. Umeta (where did that name come from? *g* I dictate the next chapter to all who guess right! It isn't that difficult!), tried to calm the class down.
"Class, please meet Yami Kinski (-.- not a good name either). He's from Egypt and will bring some culture in this class."
(Am I the only one who notices that the teacher introduces the new students like in a show? O.o)
Silence. Silence before the storm would be more fitting. As if the whistles of the boys weren't enough, the girls now started too. Not whistling of course, but drooling. It wasn't every day that a hot new guy IN LEATHER shows up in your school.
Joey and Tristan found their friend's reaction at all the females in the class amusing. Yugi didn't share their enthusiasm and growled at them. Despite his usual self he was rather possessive of Yami and refused to share his new friend. Sure Yami was hot, but HIS darker half and nobody else's. 'Did I just say Yami is hot?' He was distracted when he saw a girl flirting with the spirit. The hikari wanted to remark his complain, but felt bad for even thinking about it, considering the way he treated his other half the day before.
Yami and Mai didn't react to the attention they were receiving, but were ignoring them completely and were eager talking with each other. Their classmates were pissed, but decided that they make a perfect couple (It's a YxY fic not YxM). This remark caused Yugi's blood to boil. YAMI WASN'T INTERESTED IN HER. That statement was soooooo ridiculous! Yami and Mai a couple? That was the joke of the century. 'But what if ...' the voice in his head argued, making his heart feeling heavy. 'And why does it bother me that much?' Not even Yugi could answer that question himself.
The day passed rather uneventful. Yami and Mai were handled as the perfect couple, but both denied it, much to Yugi's relief, which was probably a mistake as now the students hoped to have a chance with their new classmates.
Yugi and Yami were avoiding each other unconsciously, but both for different reasons. Yami was overwhelmed and unnerved by the attention he was receiving and decided to spend the breaks at quiet places with his new friend Mai.
Every break a bunch of girls was around his desk asking him a lot of question like 'Do you have a girlfriend' or 'Would you like to eat lunch with me'.
Yugi was deep in thought his main concern Yami. The hikari didn't know how to behave towards his darkness. There were just too many confusing feelings. Besides he was unsure if his darker half still liked him. After all he made friends with half the school. 'But he is my yami. And he forgave me. Why should he lie? He isn't the kind of person to say something he didn't mean ... At least I think so' Again the light was reminded of the fact that he knew ABSOLUTE NOTHING about the spirit.
*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~
Both were walking home, side by side in silence, lost in their thoughts. '*What has changed?*' darkness and light wondered.
They came to a halt in front of the game shop. A white-haired boy was standing there, waiting for somebody. Noticing the other two he turned around to greet them.
"Hello ... Yami" he greeted. Yugi couldn't quite place why, but he was sure the boy wanted to say something else.
Shrugging, he looked at his darkness, wondering how the spirit knew that boy. He didn't attend Domino High as far as Yugi could tell. Yugi was surprised to see Yami glaring at the boy.
"Hi. I'm Yugi Mutou" Yugi introduced himself. The albino smiled at him, nodding. "I know" he answered. The light was taken aback. "My name is Ryou Bakura. Nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you too. You know my name?" he asked wondering. Ryou's eyes were widening and looking at Yami, directing his question at him "You haven't told him?" he questioned softly, looking pityingly at Yugi.
"What do you want, Ryou?" Yami shoot back. The light felt hurt, but was more surprised about Yami's reaction.
"Ishizu sends me. She wants to talk to you"
"I thought I made myself clear that the discussion was finished"
"Please Yami. You know it is important."
"Fine" Yami declared defeated.
Yugi stood there, struck for words. What was going on here?

Do you like? Please be nice and review. For me, okay? *chibi eyes*
I wrote the whole chapter today and I couldn't be bothered to make it longer. Sorry.
I have a favour to ask. I have a theory, but I need your help to prove it. I think that especially girls are obsessed with yaoi. So it would be a big help if you would leave in your review a f or m for male or female. Of course you don't have to, if you don't want to! Thanks
And don't forget the guess the name of the teacher.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST YOU HAVE TO DECIDE IF I HAVE TO UPDATE THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THIS FIC OR START THE NEW FIC: 'ESPOIR' – it's French for hope or anticipation.
Yugi Mutou aka Hikari is the host of the radio show "Espoir". His job is to help people with their love problems and they take his advices to heart, as he was always right. But when it comes to his own love life ... Hikari learned that you can't have an answer for every question.
Dagger5: They are both too stubborn for their own good, so it could take them a while to realize their feelings. . and I can't understand why it won't happen on the TV show as I know MANY would like to see yaoi ^^
Cherazz22784: A rollercoaster ride? Mhhm, then it will go downwards from now ... It's time for ANGST!!! Yugi is really mean, ne? Not like his usual cheerful self. But he'll learn his mistake ... but it could take him a while. He is just like every stubborn teenager.
SilverWing147: Thanks for the review. See, I introduced Ryou, but in this story there won't be Bakura. I need him for my next story!
RaeFangirl: Thank you. Thank you. You are tooooooo nice! But you are evil, you know that? I can't resist puppy eyes! ^^
Koishii No Tenshi: It probably will, but it will getting worse before it will be better.
Kitty Neko: Here is it!
Konekoyasha-Sama: Thank you! Hope you liked this chapter too!
Molly-chan the Anime/Game fan: It seemed D likes Angst ^^ well he will get more! But I'm sure I have something for A too! Thanks for the review!
Anime-Blade: Thanks! It's getting confusing, ne? ^^
Elsalhir-Erestar: You reviewed again! Thank you. I like Yami mysterious. He is drop dead hot that way ^^ Mhhh, what will Yami's reaction be ... you have to read to find out. Well, my English is getting a little bit better, but I hope my beta will have time for me soon as I'm sure I make many mistakes! Update your AWESOME stories soon too, ne?
It'sHardToBelieve: You reviewed and that's all that matters! Thank you!
Sarah Harvey: Yami hasn't taken it very well and his one problems don't make it more easy for their relationship ... I have to shut up ... don't wanna tell what will happen, ne?^^
