Chapter 15: The fate of the world and it's price

Both men, pharaoh and dark priest, were consumed by the dark fog, only known by the ancient Egyptians as shadow realm. Lightning was the only source of light, illumination the black and dark violet clouds. The crowd, within Yugi and his friends, watched the unusual spectacle somehow scared and interested. But only a few of them had a wary idea, that the outcome of the battle of the two giants could change their life and the world they knew forever.
Yugi was still held firmly in place by the Dark Magician, his pair of violet eyes focused on every movement coming from the dimension, his yami created. The air was thick, the tension unbelievable. The life at the earth, all at the same seemed to came to a stop, concentrating on the ultimate battle in a town called Domino city, were the fate of the world will be decided. The friends listened closely, hoping to find out what was going on behind the shadow curtain. Screams of the damned, lost in the shadows, filled their ears, sending shivers down their spines. The sound of the rattle of swords and explosions were rising in intensity.
And suddenly the sounds fell silent. Even the strong wind didn't dare to interrupt the deadly silence, hanging above their heads. It was as if life itself had died.
Yugi felt Schwarzer Magier tensing. His mind couldn't register what was going to happen next as the monster loosened his grip on him and stood now, along with Ishizu before the hikari and his friends. The duel Monster tightened his grip on his rod and directed it at the cloud, where his master vanished hours ago, or were it just minutes? Ishizu had closed her eyes, a necklace with an eye, like the one on the millennium puzzle, shining brightly. They both expected something.
Before the hikari could think about it any longer the earth began to shake uncontrollably and he had difficulties to stand on his feet. A shock wave moved from the shadow realm to all sides in unbelievable speed, blowing everything on it's way away. Once again a shield before them saved Yugi and his friends, this time created by Ishizu and Schwarzer Magier. People around them were flying through the air, most of them clashing against walls or trees unconscious. Though it seemed as if something slowed down their fall, because a second before they collided, they floated in the air for a moment.
"Are you all alright?" Ishizu asked worriedly, looking out of breath. It wasn't easy to control that much magic, like she did a moment before.
Yugi looked at the others, none seemed injured and answered for all of them, as his friends were much to shaken to comprehend the question. "We're fine. But what is with Yami, Ishizu! What is with YAMI?!!!" Yugi screamed, panic getting the better of him.
"He won" the dark magician replied, sounding not too thrilled.
"... but the explosion ..." Yugi began, hoping that the spirit was still alive.
"Was sent by the pharaoh. He erased their memory. No one will remember this incident. They are not ready to face power and magic like that."
The light couldn't ask further as suddenly the dark fog dissolved into nothing, leaving only destruction behind. The place were once the battle took place, looked even worse as the surroundings of the school. It would be a miracle if something in there was still alive. Yugi had to make an effort to see something in the dust. When he did, he was afraid his heart stopped beating, because there stood the victor of the battle. His yami.
Tears were again forming in his eyes, but this time they were tears of relief, but that quickly changed when he took in Yami's appearance. His clothes were torn in pieces, barely hiding the badly damaged body. Blood was seen, streaking out from many long and deep cuts, running down his arms and feet, forming a spot of blood on the ground. His beautiful crimson eyes were hidden by his blond bangs, which were also covered in blood. So much blood. Yami was breathing heavily, his body shaking from exhaustion. Yugi tried to tell his feet to start walking or better running, but they refused to obey to his wishes, glowing him to the spot. His mind along with his senses shut down, shocked and afraid to see his other half so near on the edge of death.
The Dark Magician on the other hand wasted no time to hurry to his master's side. That was the first time Yugi saw another body in his yami's arms. Before Schwarzer Magier reached the pharaoh, his knees buckled and he landed face first on the ground unconscious. Ishizu run to them and cradled the other form in her arms. "Oh Malik. You're back. He saved you. Thank god, he saved you" she cried happily. The Dark Magician dragged the upper body of the pharaoh on his lap, being careful not to touch any wounds and wincing as he noted the pained expression on the spirit's face. He had lost too much blood, he needed help NOW ...
By the moment Yugi and his friends slowly came to their senses. The hikari had trouble to reach the wounded as his knees buckled several times from relief. He was only a few steps away from reaching his darker side, when the duel monster stopped him "Stop right there. Right now" he snarled, showing his teeth. "What? Dark Magician, I just want to ..."
"YOU WANT?! Why should I listen to what YOU want? YOU were the reason he is hurt. He only wanted to protect you and what did you do? Nothing. You didn't even trust him. You aren't worth to be called his hikari. I protected you, because the pharaoh is my master, my friend and my charge. As he is your protector, I am his. He is hurt because of you again. He'll probably die because of you ... but that's over now. You'll never come near him ever again. You're lucky that he cares for you that much or I would have killed you for what you have done." Schwarzer Magier shouted at Yugi, hate and disgust in his voice. And then in a flash of light he and Yami were gone.

Short and stupid chapter, but hey, Yami is back, more or less alive -.-

jkateel: I know what you mean. If you write more stories at once, you didn't know what to do first. For one fic you have hundred ideas and for the other none. –lol- same here! Anyway, good luck with the stories! I know they are both great! And you're not bad at German. It's not easy to learn a language if you have no practice. But I can change that Jetzt würde mich auch interessieren, wo du Deutsch gelernt hast, denn Deutsch ist keine Weltsprache wie Englisch. Und Amerikaner, die Englisch können, ist ganz selten. Oh I won't bug you with German anymore.
