"I came to visit you, you know…"

Cheap wood cracked slightly under her death grip.

"I came to FUCKING visit you, Reno." Mako blues tore into him. "And once was enough."

She made a harsh sound. "God, did you think it was funny to pull a stunt like that? Just DAYS after you'd been so close to dying?!"

Bloodless knuckles ached.

"Was that another of Reno's sick jokes?" Elena wanted to throw the damn chair at him. "So I could deal with you – you – being pumped full of God-knows-what again? With tubes shoved up everywhere inside of you? Inside every hole you have?"

She let out an angry breath. "Looking like a ghost who doesn't know who the hell he is?" The blonde stalked threateningly towards him. "Or who Rude is? Or who I am…?!"

Dammit, she was a Turk, she wasn't crying.

"Well, very funny, Reno. Very funny." She choked. "Look at how damn hard you've got me laughing."

Her voice was painfully wavering now, but Elena was going to salvage something and get her last words.

"Rude was right. I should've never—"

That's when Reno grabbed her.

And kissed her laughter away…
