Sour

Disclaimer: I have no rights to The O.C....But I have my right to vote! Wait, no I don't. Ah, five more years.

A/N: Just a one-shot I thought up. Basically me (in Anna's POV...sort of) rambling on for 341 words. I didn't count, the Document Manager told me! I think it's the acceptable way of how she would feel after Seth and Summer's hook-up. I was kind of irked the show didn't show it that way, but oh well! My original idea was that Anna gets all out-of-character, goes to Ryan to get some ideas, gets drunk with him, sleeps with him, and has her heart broken again. I like this semi-happy ending more. Enjoy.

Anna watches Seth and Summer sit on the couch in the student lounge. Bickering, giggling, looking at a tacky teen magazine together. Seth's got his hand on Summer's thigh, Summer's head is resting on his shoulder. Anna's eyes are locked on the two.

She just observing, she tells herself. They're her friends. Not jealous one bit.

But, it would be acceptable if she was. Her boyfriend did ditch her for Summer. She knows she was the one who broke it off, but really, it was him. So, jealousy would be okay.

But she's not jealous. Right, she's happy for them.

If she's so happy for them, why can't she stop staring in anger?

Anger? She's not angry. Besides, this is how she knew it would wind up when she kissed Seth at the carnival. She should've just laid off, not have pursued him. She wouldn't have, either, if she didn't like him so much.

She doesn't like him so much. They're over.

It'd be so much easier to admit how she feels if she didn't like Summer so much. Summer just has to be so snarky, nice, fun to be around. Plus, she likes Golden Girls. Why can't Seth just like a real big bitch? Well, Summer is a bitch, but not the kind Anna dislikes.

Anna refuses to be a sour ex-girlfriend. But that's just what she is.

She'll find a way to piss him off. Neither of the happy couple will ever have tasted anything so sour. More sour then lemons, green apple candy, and limes combined. It'll be her sweet victory.

No, sour victory.

Seth looks up from the magazine and waves at her, flashing that bright grin of his.

Anna smiles back and waves.

Maybe she doesn't need that sour victory, anyway. She'll just be a good friend, not a bad ex.

Summer giggles at one of Seth's jokes, and Anna wants to be in her place.

She'll confess it, she's sour, but only if asked a million times and her fingernails have been peeled away. She'll never get that sour victory. She didn't really want it in the first place.
