A/N: This takes place when Ishizu was about twelve and was living in the tomb.

Nervously, Ishizu silently stepped into her father's room. He was sitting a table reading something. Since he didn't notice her, she spoke softly, "Father?"

When he didn't answer, she spoke again, louder this time, "Father?"

He kept his back turned but answered, "What?"

Ishizu looked at her feet and answered, "I-I was wondering why we can't, um, leave the tomb."

"Are you planning to leave?!" her father shouted, back still turned.

"N-No," Ishizu answered quietly, "I just want to know, father." Her father sighed.

"You know why. We're waiting for the Pharaoh."

"But couldn't we go outside while we're waiting?"

"No!"

"Why not?" Ishizu was gaining confidence; maybe she could talk her father into letting her and Malik outside the tomb.

"If you leave you wouldn't come back."

"Yes I would." Her father went silent; Ishizu thought maybe he changed his mind. The silence was broken by her father.

"It's better in the tomb then in the outside world."

"How do you know?" Ishizu knew she was talking back and could get in trouble. But he hadn't gotten too mad yet.

"...I just know."

"Have you ever been outside?"

"No!" Her father turned around and stood up, towering over Ishizu. Ishizu stepped back intimidated by her father. He raised his hand to hit her, "Don't you ever speak of going outside again!" Ishizu knew she had crossed the line. She flinched and closed her eyes, waiting for the impact.

But when it didn't come, she opened her eyes and saw her father lower his hand, clenched in a fist. He turned around and a shaky, "Leave," came from him. Ishizu quickly turned to leave but stopped when she heard her father speak.

"I remember, I yearned to see the outside world- I still do- but I never left. I never went outside," his voice was soft as he remembered.

Ishizu was silent as she listened to her father talk.

He continued, "I didn't want to be a tomb keeper. I know how Malik feels. I felt the same way when my father forced me to become a tomb keeper. But I did it. I obeyed my father," he turned around half-way to see Ishizu listening and spoke to her, "We just have to wait. I've had to wait all my life."

Ishizu nodded.

"And I have a feeling that the Pharaoh will return soon." Then he murmured, "Very soon."
