"Oh my God!" she yelled, "what the hell have I done!?!" as she looked down at her husband lying on the ground, bleeding.

One Year Earlier...

"Oh are we there yet" said Amanda as she saw the sprawling lodge with its several outbuildings scattered like a giant child's toys through the thick ancient fir trees.

"No that is the Jones' house" Matthew said with a cursory glance at the large house.

"Which house is yours?" Amanda asked.

"That one," Matthew said, pointing at a large plot of trees that Amanda realized must have hid a much larger house. As he turned into a driveway the house came into view. It was about four stories high, it was dark brown, looked like it had fireplaces on every floor and it had about ten outbuildings.

"That is your house?" Amanda said with joy in her voice.

"Yes it is" Matthew answered. As the car passed a window Amanda thought she saw someone looking out of the window "Is there any body else living here with you?" asked Amanda

"No why do you ask?" Matthew said looking puzzled

"oh it is nothing I think I am seeing things" answered Amanda.

The car stopped at front door as Amanda got out of the car she looked at the window where she thought she saw the person but nobody was there Matthew than walked up to the front door & unlocked it when Amanda walked in she was taken back, the front room of the house had a high ceiling which was about two stories high and she could see the windows from the 2nd story looking down in the room

"oh me god it is great" Amanda said, there was floor to ceiling curtains and rugs on the floor that looked like they was from the 1800 or so as she turned around she saw Matthew taking the bags up the steps to the 2nd story

"wait for me" she said as she ran after him when she got to him she helped him with the bags as they got the top of the steps the Grandfather clock that was down the hall went off telling every one it was 4 o'clock after they had put the bags in the bedroom Matthew asked

"Would you like to meet some of the people from next door?"

"Sure "Amanda answered, "but where is bathroom because I need to go?"

"Its down the hall 2nd door on the right.

"Thanks" Amanda answered as she walked down the hall she again had the felling she was being watched she turned around but there was no one there.
