Inui gripped Kaidoh's wrists in his hands and looked quietly into the other boy's baffled face.
"Don't move, Kaidoh." His voice was soft, his tone was gentle, his words no request but an order.
There was a long pause.
Inui leant forward; he meant only to kiss the corner of that puzzled mouth, but at the last moment, he moved his head slightly and brushed his lips directly across Kaidoh's. The touch was rough, and a little dry, but Kaidoh's lips were warm, if very still-- Inui had taken care not to rest long enough to give the other time to respond; just long enough to make a faint memory for himself.
Inui leant back.
Kaidoh's face was still frozen in surprise, the same expression that had been there when his hands had been imprisoned.
Inui dropped those hands and stepped back, his smile very slight and steady. "I like you."
Kaidoh's flight was four hours away.
Inui turned away calmly. It was not a pose, because he had thought it through, and he was steady and very, very cool.
98.63 per cent said that Kaidoh didn't feel that way for him. That was two years ago.
Kaidoh had been barely sixteen then; Inui not much older.
99.83 per cent said that Kaidoh didn't feel that way for him. That was just yesterday.
Kaidoh was eighteen now, and ready. Inui was almost nineteen, and he had been ready for a long time.
Kaidoh didn't call back after him.
99.99 per cent said that it was because Kaidoh didn't want to. 0.01 per cent said Kaidoh wanted to, but was too stunned.
Inui turned back one last time to look.
98.52 per cent said that Kaidoh would have his back to him. 1.48 per cent said that Kaidoh would still be facing him, even after Inui had turned his back.
Inui looked.
Good luck. Goodbye. -- I love you.
Data never lied.
