First off, Happy Birthday Naoko Yanagisawa!!! (October 11th) Sorry, this isn't a poem about Naoko, though... Maybe I should make a fan fic dedicated to her... But that'll have to wait.

Anyway... This is a villanelle about a possible outcome of Tomoyo's unrequited love for Sakura... It ties into my ongoing fan fiction "Anyone Other Than Me", and I imagine it to be an excerpt from Tomoyo's "Secret Diary". More on that Diary in Chapter Nine, for those who have been reading... Anyway, a villanelle is a unique poem with a strict type of structure, but it's really a lot of fun once you start playing around with the form.

I'm not a good poet (not by any stretch of the imagination!), but I made this angst-y poem out of curiosity (and boredom) as a tribute to Tomoyo and her bittersweet love for her Sakura-chan. Hope y'all enjoy it!

DISCLAIMER: I don't own CCS.

You Wouldn't Care To Know

Words mean nothing when tears flow
The other flowers can wilt for all I care
I still should have shown you what you didn't know

You fell into his arms like there was no tomorrow
Though I always sang my best when there was nobody there,
Words mean nothing when tears flow

Your happiness is mine, didn't I tell you so?
And if none could begrudge the smile of a girl so fair,
I still should have shown you what you didn't know

The last time I saw you seems ages ago
When I still looked for excuses to escape my lair
Words mean nothing when tears flow

What's there left to say but 'let it all go?'
It was me who played matchmaker on a girlish dare
I still should have shown you what you didn't know

Did you enjoy watching yourself grow?
Hiding my gifts aside, plucking me out of your hair
Words mean nothing when tears flow
I should have guessed when I showed you
That you wouldn't care to know

Okay, so I broke one of the rules of a villanelle with the last line, but aw, who cares? If this one gets good reviews (as if!), I'll post some more of my horrible poetry to make you all SUFFER!!! XD Yay for me! Now please review... Even if it's only two words, the monkey within me will squeal with joy.

And while you're at it (yes, I'm a shameless self-promoter), do me a big favor and check out "Anyone Other Than Me"... The first chapters in the story so far are setup, but trust me, it gets better... Arigatou!
