Disclaimer: I am currently in litigation with Rumiko Takahashi over the rights to Inuyasha; I'll keep you posted as to the results.

OK here is my second poem. It was written over a year ago because of a certain young man who had a damaging effect on my life (not the boyfriend from my first poem) but I was inspired to edit and post it here, by a chapter in the story To wash it all away written by the wonderful Crystal Echoes. (If you haven't read the story I highly recommend it)

Oh and for those of you who take issue with the fact that this does not follow the true storyline or the spirit of that story as Lady Takahashi is trying to present it, I don't care! I composed this piece of poetry to be enjoyed, not to follow the manga cannon.

Dark Shikon

Origins unknown,

Floating like a mist

At the edge of consciousness;

Shrinking from the touch of reality.

Promising such things as only a fantasy can,

Shining with the light of a bright gem.

All the while slowly darkening

The closer you draw it towards you.

And the darkness begins to engulf you

And draw you into its shadowy depths.

But you don't even realize it

Until it is too late to stop it.

It is saddened to have hurt you

But it makes no apologies for the things it does

Seeing no wrong in its nature,

Only conflict within your own.

And it will never understand,

For it lacks the wisdom and ability to do so.

The strong have learned to walk away from it,

And the weak never even try.
