The Mortal Love
One beautiful spring morning, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, went out on a morning stroll atop Mt Olympus. As she walked out of the palace, she saw 2 mortal young men climbing Mt Olympus. She hurried over to the 2 young men to see what they were trying to do.
"Whatever are you climbing up here for?" she asked in a sweet, singsong voice. When the first boy heard her voice, he quickened his climbing and got to the top first. He picked a rose from the ground.
"Here, my sweet." he said. "I am Joseph, your future mortal love." Aphrodite was not impressed and just shook her head at him, leaving him thoroughly disappointed. When the second boy climbed up the mountain, he didn't give her more then a glance. Aphrodite, who was not used to being ignored by men, walked over to him.
"hello." She said in a sweet voice.
The boy looked up and said, "what, huh? Oh, um, hi." He then turned around and went to fasten his shoes. Zeus then walked out and glared at the boys.
"Are these to mortals bothering you, Aphrodite?" he said, reaching for his lightning bolt.
"Well, one is." Aphrodite said. "Will you get rid of that one?" she said, pointing to Joseph. Joesph looked horrified as Zeus hurled a lightning bolt at him.
Aphrodite looked at the other boy and said, "just leave, um, what was your name?"
Zeus nodded and carried away Joesph.
"Josh, Joesph's older brother." He said, this time looking up. "what did you do with Joesph?"
"He was probably sent back down to earth, with a few electrocutions from the lighting bolt." Aphrodite said. She was beginning to fall in love with this mortal, and she was disappointed that Josh wasn't paying attention to her.
"Do you want to walk with me?" she asked Josh.
Josh sighed and said, "If you insist."
Josh and Aphrodite walked down Mt. Olympus to walk around on the field below it. Josh slowly began to open up to her. They had a great time trying to catch butterflies. Josh even picked a flower in the field for her to wear in her hair.
The evening soon came and it was time for Aphrodite to say goodbye to Josh.
"Josh." She said. "Would you like to stay here? I mean, we could make you immortal, and-"
"Aphrodite." Josh said. "you're beautiful, and wonderful, but I am afraid I am in love with someone else."
Aphrodite's jaw dropped open in surprise.
"What?" she cried, forgetting to use her sweet voice. "No man has ever turned me down before!"
He sighed. "Well, get used to it. Just because you are used to fairy tale endings, doesn't mean that you are going to get one this time."
"No! it doesn't work that way!" Aphrodite cried. "Most men dream about dating me! Why are you turning this once in a lifetime chance down?? You were supposed to be like your brother, so I could choose the cuter one of you, and date that one happily! This isn't DONE! Its simply just isn't DONE!"
Josh shrugged and began to walk away. "So I'm different." He said. "find someone else. I want to love a girl with a wonderful personality, and you obviously don't have one, so-"
"NO!!!!!!" Aphrodite shrieked so loudly that Josh had to close his ears. "NO NO NO!!!!"
"I am in love with someone else." Josh said, pulling out a picture of an extremely ugly girl.
"ew!" Aphrodite cried. "why would anyone like her?"
"she's beautiful to me." Josh said. "she, unlike you, has inner beauty." He then walked away, having Aphrodite scream and shout and act like a 4 year old behind him.
"brat." Josh muttered as he went off to look for his brother.
The End
