Syd POV

"Syd!" Vaughn yelled.

"What do you want Vaughn?!" I spat out, tears streaming down my face, my stony exterior failing me.

"Syd... please talk to me...."

"about what?! about your marriage?! How you gave up on us?"

"You know that ever since I was a child I waited for my knight in shining armour??? My mother used to tell me that every woman had one. I asked her how you know who your knight was . She told me you would just know...he would be your shoulder to cry on, you confidant, your lover, your everything. Then I met YOU. I knew I had found my knight! But now- now I'm not so sure..." now the tears are steadily dropping onto the floor.

"Let me be your knight again-"

"I cant Vaughn! You betrayed me, you betrayed yourself, you betrayed US when you said I do! You threw everything out the window! You got married! You are bound to another woman until the end. You promised to love, cherish her through the good and the bad times. You love your wife! You know what the sad thing is.... I was supposed to be your wife." She regained her calm exterior again but her eyes betrayed everything... the fear she felt, the hurt, pain, and betrayal. What hurt the most though was that I caused all of that.

"I can be your knight...I'm going to ask Lauren for a divorce." He said.

Vaughn's POV

I was hoping to get some sort of reaction from her when I said that....anything a slap, a kiss, a hug - anything but silence. She just stared at me for what seemed like hours.

Finally she responded, "What do you expect me to do Vaughn? Leap for joy?"

"Yea, that was what I was kinda hoping for."

"Not the time for corny jokes." She responded sharply.

"Syd I want this to work - ."

"There's nothing to work Vaughn."

That felt like a punch in the gut.

"As far as I'm concerned my knight never existed in the first place."

"Syd please -."

"Don't make it harder than it already is. Goodbye Vaughn. I will always love you. "

By the time I realized what she meant I called Jack. But we couldn't find her. She had really left this time. I didn't even get to say goodbye.
