Notes: On a morning not so long ago, as I hit the snooze bar for the 11th time, I was thinking about this challenge, and set up an additional challenge of my own to myself in my head -- how much angst can I possibly pack into 50 words? Thusly was this story born. I'm sorry, JJ and Drake. I'll go back to being nice to you now.

Though we were disarmed, I didn't panic when they started shooting. There is fascination in hopelessness, tracking bullets in vain as they approach, feeling the sting in your guts when they hit in unanticipated places.

Drake got it in the head, thankfully. He died immediately.

Now, beside him, I wait.
