"I can't help the way I feel."

"So what? That's it?"

He nodded; moving his hand to wipe away at a tear that ran down her cheek.
"This is the part where you go 'I love you but I'm not in love with you', right?"

"I'd never say that."

"Why not?"

"Because I was in love with you, for a long time, but you moved on," he grabbed her hand, tracing his fingers over her ring, "And that means I have to as well."

"So...There's no chance?"

"You're married, I'm getting married tomorrow, it's too late."

She shook her head, refusing to believe him. "I never moved on, I settled down as I didn't think you felt the same, if I'd known how you felt I would never have married..."

He placed his hand on her mouth, preventing her from speaking.

"You knew, you have always known how I felt about you, you decided not to give us a chance, so don't you dare blame this on me."

"I want a chance now."

He threw his hands up in the air, storming outside.

"Please, it can work, I know it can."

"You just aren't getting this are you? You. Are. Married. I. Am. Getting. Married. It cannot and will not work."

She sighed, tears pouring silently down her face. "I guess it's really over then."

His face softened. "It's been over for a long time now. I love her, I am going to marry her, spend the rest of my life with her, just like you are with your husband."

"But I will never love him the way I love you."

"And I will never love you the way I love her."

"This is one of those, if you really love them, you'll let them go things."

"Yeah."

He pulled her into a hug, smiling as he saw Sam climbing out of her car.

"Goodbye Jack," she whispered into his ear.

"Goodbye Sara."
