The Kraken slept on much as it had before, occasionally coming out of its deep sleep into a doze.

When the kraken dozed it liked to hear the whales calling to each other; it would dream about them when it fell properly asleep again.

For a moment it strained to hear their songs, before it remembered; they were gone.
